Can we please discuss how Wabs actually shreds so damn hard? I love his bonks and fun videos but when he shreds he fuckin SHREDS
Not the biggest fan of his style, but DAMN does he shred
I love Wabs but I feel like The Kid is the most underrated skier in Utah. That guy knows how to fucking RIP.
He is so funny he used to do like 9s and shit and throws down and he greases c's,s's and mustaches always, he got mad rail skills, all he does now is make funny bunchy insta edits.
I support this man.

I want to see Steve ski like Wabs
Wabs fuckin sucks. The style now a day fuckin sucks. Landing a trick sketchy and doing a hand drag 3 on flat ground is not cool. Also what happens to keeping your hands down when you ski. Everybody out there is looking like a bald eagle getting ready to take off while they do a 50/50 on a rail. Also "swerving" around the mountain takes no skill at all and looks stupid but for some reason people are getting sponsored for it.

You must not be very fun to ski with.

Your views are antiquated and your closemindedness is painful.
Sorry but since when did jumping over a rail and slamming your tails on it become cool or difficult? Or spinning a 360 10 feet before a rail? Or not being able to get a trick around all the way and calling a shuffle and all of a sudden it counts? Some of the stuff is cool for example I love Keegan killbrides style but everybody in the bunch should just quit skiing and not to mention that style of filming/editing is complete ass mixed with the music they use. #facts

While I recognize the creative and unique approach that is delivered by The Bunch, I agree with you that it is just not very cool. At this point, in my humble opinion, it has gotten soooo try hard and over saturated. Those dudes would get smoked by any other "faction" of the ski world in a game of SLVSH, for example. Sure they have their odd little style and tricks, but at the end of the day they can't ski for shit compared to the rest of the professional world.

same thing could be said about you dood

You're missing the point here. No one in 'the bunch' or who you're referring to as sub-par skiers are trying to be 'pro skiers'. They just go ski and have fun, do what they love to do, film it and post it online. They're doing exactly what everyone else is doing, some people like what they're doing and give them props, then people like you come in and shit all over it because its not what you like.
No one is telling you how to ski dude, people are just expressing themselves how they chose and you (and others) reactions are to hate on it. Just go ski, watch what you want, ski how you want, do whatever you want and let people do what they want, period.

This post is also completely different that the OP. This thread was about how hard wabs shreds when he skis hard, aka does real tricks and throws down. This is 100% true, wabs is a real good park skier, you're referring to him fucking around and trying new shit, having fun, doing what he wants to do. How you're reacting to wabs is exactly what I was saying to park ranger, just go ski and have fun, let other people go ski and have fun. If you dont wanna watch wabs ski, then don't, its quite simple.
SammyDubzsame thing could be said about you dood
I would probably agree with you based on how I saw things a year ago. I've learned a lot since I started expressing my opinions more. Depending on the topic I have developed my thoughts more and started caring less about other things. I'll hear anyone out regardless of if they agree or disagree as long as they approach the topic reasonably.

Wrong. They have created and "trademarked" a brand and are selling it. Their IG has like 25K followers, they have a website and an online store, a ski company based an entire ski and marketing campaign around them, Tall T has sold clothing using their brand, most of them have sponsors, a few of them travel all over the world and film with big name production companies, the crew consists of multiple Level 1 SU winners and an X-Games gold medalist, they have produced 3 full length movies and probably more footage than any other crew in skiing right now, they host an event that pulls numerous other big names from the sport... not to mention they are like the founding fathers of a really popular trend/style in the sport right now. You have grossly oversimplified what they are about.

I'm still confused why you care so much about how they ski. What you just described is fucking awesome, why are you hating on it?
This strayed a bit off topic from the thread title, but the previous post you quoted was basically hating on these guys messing around having fun. Again, why this bothers you guys so much is beyond me, but there is a reason people follow them (which 25k tbh isnt that much, especially in real world terms) they like what theyre doing, theyre not getting sponsored because they do 360s on the ground, the bunch et. al. protrays the image that everyone wants, fun. Skiing is all about fun and doing what you want, "free" skiing. So why hate?
Its fucking awesome that this crew of homies is successfully selling a brand, making videos for us to watch and some of them are even breaking through and filming big film parts. But no, their hands wave around, they don't do normal tricks, they suck. Come the fuck on.

I posted to point out that you're wrong to say that "none of them are trying to be pro" and act like they are just average dudes going skiing. Everything they do is for the purpose of progressing their brand/movement... there is nothing wrong with that, but lets just be honest about what it is. And while we are here, I will mention that it is my opinion the reason why they all dress and ski the same these days. In their early days, you could find all kinds of different styles in the crew (tall t's/blunt grabs/rap music to skinny pants/indie rock/backslides), and to me, that was what was so cool about them as a crew when they first hit the scene. Now they have all conformed to the same trend and they are pushing it and their brand super hard. Again, nothing wrong with any of that all... just my opinion on that matter.
I'm not hating on them. I have been following them since I saw Maxi's "soul skiing" edit when it dropped like 6 years ago. Even met a few of them in Breck in 2013 and thought that they were straight running the park out of everyone that was there during that time (they were lapping super hard with like Will Berman and Zak Steele). I have always followed them and for the most part enjoy what they put out. But I prefer what they used to be as opposed to what they have become, and I wish that they inspired people in other ways aside from putting on sweat pants and swiveling down a hill flapping. As you say, they are all about having fun and being free... which is cool. I wish people were inspired to do the same in their own way, instead of trying to emulate what they do. Instead, all these kids try to emulate them and can't do it and it makes me cringe because they are trying so hard. The Bunch trend is over saturated and needs to go away... not The Bunch themselves.
TL;DR - EHeath oversimplified what they are about. Their trend/style takeover is not for me, but really no real hate from my camp. IMO, they don't shred very hard anymore and I prefer to watch like 100 other skiers that do shred hard instead of them these days. I enjoyed their old stuff a lot more. Glad I have the choice to watch and support what I like!

I see no problem with anything you said other than me oversimplifying. I don't think everyones goal is to be the best skier ever, they just want to be the best they can be, whether theyre doing contests or just filming with their friends.
I think the fundamental problem you're having is just trends in skiing, this shits been happening since day one. The kids will always emulate who they like, there's not much we can do about that.

Sitting with him now, he is getting a kick out of it, rock on Eheath
Wabs is my favorite skier right now because of his skiing, but also his personality, and how his personality relates to his skiing. Screwing around on a park bench looks so easy until you try it. This dude has inspired me to drop some cash on some Vishnu Wets here pretty soon once the sale goes up, because I enjoy his style, and want a chance to try all the wack shit he does that I can't do on my line skis(though soft, they have too much camber I think). I'd love to see a more content from this dude in the future, so entertaining!
Finally some respeck on my man, hes great at what he does

Jah feel. I guess I just don't get why the trend is so popular. If you're going to emulate someone, their are countless dudes/crews that shred 10x harder than The Bunch and do it with way better style, IMHO.
And yes, you did oversimply by suggesting that none of them are trying to be pros and are just average dudes uploading edits to the internet. As I stated above, everything that they do is to promote and progress their brand, which is why they have all conformed to basically the same style and look in the last few years (they didn't start that way, used to be a super diverse crew). But I regress, cheers Eheath.

According to you and Steve, it sounds like we have a gentleman and a scholar on our hands in Mr. Wabs.
that dude is a madman his snapchat stories make me unconscious

Park_RangerJah feel. I guess I just don't get why the trend is so popular. If you're going to emulate someone, their are countless dudes/crews that shred 10x harder than The Bunch and do it with way better style, IMHO.
I think a major part of it is that their skiing is so accessible. Freeskiing always used to require jumps, rails, big mountains, etc. but the new wave skiing has removed those elements. They've developed a style that's globally applicable, something people anywhere can not only emulate but also adapt to their environments. For example, there's disconnect between kids in Minnesota watching jump videos at Mammoth and that can alienate those kids who don't have opportunities to ski that way. But those same kids can get inspired by The Bunch and look at skiing differently. Not to mention that much of the new wave skiing is arguably safer, now skiers don't have to always put themselves at risk of injury to do something "cool". That's all great for our sport because it diversifies opportunities and gives more people the chance to find something they like.
At the end of the day I think Eheath's argument is the best. Whether you decide to assume that the skiers in The Bunch are skiing for the love of it or purely for the sake of marketing and self-promotion (which I think is not the case, these people do it foremost because they enjoy it) is irrelevant. New wave skiing is reinventing the sport by providing new ways too look at a hill and to enable self expression and most of all a way to have fun with your friends. I don't understand how a different way for people to enjoy the sport we are all passionate about warrants this kind of judgement. It's easy to call it "unskilled" or "bad" skiing but that's because you're considering it through the lens of traditional freeskiing. You're applying the standards of traditional freeskiing to something that's not traditional freeskiing. It's just different, and you have to approach thinking about it differently as well.
Oh my lawd guys wtf happened to out sport i dont come here often (well at leadt not sober anymore) but goddam wtf is swerve naaaah hell naah fuck that talk dyall think freeskiing was some fucking hipster meme bullshit? Nah nah nah fuck all this you 12 year olds screw your head back on go out progress have fun, stop filming every second of your life nobodies gives a shit and you're ruining all the moments ffs, loosen the fuck up, stop giving a shit about the évolution of style stop putting effort in how u look before u can stomp the trick already, style comes with skills not vice versa...i dunno im tripping my fucking nuts off rn but i feel this whole thing is wrong, just go have fun already, and fuckin logoff, experience reality, stop.living in the idealistic image that you want to create for yourself.
On another note, i wouodnt be here if it wasnt for the ns app, thanks bishop and devs you légends this is claaaass.
I fucking miss the old days :( soon we'll miss the days where we had snow in winter, make the most of it i guess.

the "new wave" style has a lot more self expression attached to it, that often strays off into paths and styles that aren't present in skiing really. plus It opened up a plethora of new trick possibilities for kids to learn. You could do a k-fed but then you could learn the same trick with a handslide on the rail or something, the possibilities are endless when you start adding all the "new wave" tricks and that's pretty cool if you ask me.
