Sup NS, I am hoping to save up over the summer and buy a pair of On3p's. I am leaning towards the 108 as on3p claims it is truly a quiver of one type of ski. My only hesitation is how it will perform in the park. I ski about 50% all mountain/glades and 50% park. I like to go big in both park and natural features and I heard the 108 performs better in that. I will be skiing mostly in Vermont, but I take a few trips out west every year and would prefer not to switch out skis. My primary dilemma is that I don't think the 98 is wide enough for pow and big lines, but I am also not sure the 108 is light enough to hit park.
Living in whistler last year I used my kartel 98's on 95% of the 140+ days. The only reason I wouldn't use them is if it snowed over 1.5 feet of snow. Not cause they couldn't handle it just cause I had Jeffery 114's that were obviously better suited. Kartels were perfect on those days so you could go crush pow in the morning then ski park in the afternoon.
Bassically id say it comes down to what you think you're going to ski more of. If you think you're gonna be in the park/all mountain more I'd say 98's no brainer. but if you think you're gonna ski more pow than anything else go with the 108's. Comes down to where you want better performance, pow performance on the super deep days (which let's be honest we all dream of but don't come that often) or park and all mountain (little to no new snow) days. Also not saying that the 108's can crush it in the park, I just don't have any experience with that wide of a ski in the park.
This won't help much, but the only time it struggle using my 108s is in tight bumps if I'm skiing mediocre due to the size. I think a few dedicated days would solve this though. I have a pair of older Danollies and don't notice a huge difference in swing weight.
If you stay out of the bumps, I'd go with the 108s if you take trips out to the pnw/western Canada/California where the snow is heavy and wet. If you like tight bumps/take trips to CO or Utah/or ski very frequently in VT, I'd go with the 98s.
