So I'm thinking of trying a backflip soon. I cannot do too much on my skis, I'm not great in park but I can do lots of stuff easily on a trampoline. On skis, should I just go for it, or are there any tricks I should definitely learn first before a backflip?
Backflipping is easy enough, but the most important part is the commitment. If you throw it hard enough and pop and tuck, you will definitely get all the way around. Not saying you will land it first try, but landing on your head will be the least of your concerns. Just do it M8
First trick I learned was a 3, next trick was a backie because the mechanics of the trick are so easy. The Backie was the easiest trick i've learned as it mostly just required commitment and I have a really big testicle. You just need to understanding that you throw it from the hips and look back to spot your landing. I can barely do a backflip on the tramp but I did throw it on the ski ramp to foam dozens of times and my coach said I had it on lock. Look for a nice slightly poppy 20' jump and go in to it with confidence. They come around really easy. I took my very first one to skis but back slapped it.
Unless you already have a jump in mind, I would build my own booter. Find someplace that has a steep, softish landing. That way you can make sure your jump has a bunch of kick
Just send it. Make sure to get your tips around and over the knuckle. Pop good and high, and plan on landing deep in the landing.
I wanna throw a backie before the end of the season too. It seems that its just a commitment thing
