The guy absolutely sends it. You can look up his footage here on NS. How is a guy like that not gaining any traction in the industry? It is just so saturated now that there isn't very much room? Thoughts?
what industry? guys that have been "pro" for years struggle to find sponsors mate the freestyle ski industry is miniscule
The guy shreds and goes massive but he doesn't really have good style and he kinda hacks his turns and his trick selection is all basic back flips , 360s , cork 7s. Amazing tricks but a lot of people are doing these and now the level has just gotten so much higher in the last 3 years with all these resort pov edits.. In saying that he goes fucking massive and full respect to him for that some of those gaps I would personally not hit unless it was a pow day and he's hitting them at high speed into chopped out shit landings which is burley but .. There a lot of guys who should be pro ie. Bernie Roswow from mammoth , Giray Didali (he doesn't make fuck all money) .
being a sponsored athlete and then pro athlete is all about image , unless you have something unique about you and kids froth you or you are lucky enough to get on MSP or TGR ( which you kinda have to have the right sponsors in the first place to happen cause heli time is fucking expensive ) you aren't going to make money.. Look at John Spriggs he is an amazing skier who has been filming with tanner hall and doing all sorts of stuff on a very high level but he still has a normal job in summer fly fish guiding and coaching a ski team in the winter cause he just doesn't have the right sponsors to run adds of him to keep him relivent. The ski industry is shrinking and budgets are getting smaller , same goes in all action sports except maybe skateboarding. Sponsors will give you free shit and expect the world in return the money just isn't there like it was 5 years ago ( even then there wasn't that much cash) unfortunately unless you win the freeride world tour or are sponsored by Atomic, Red Bull, monster or Armada or maybe head you aren't making much money Salomon isn't hooking up nearly as many people as they used to, Candide just dropped quicksilver it seems that freeskiings glory days of cash flow have come and gone so that means a lot of underground shredders who are amazing skiers are going to be overlooked. In saying that though being a pro athlete is all business so it's Isaacs own fault he isn't hooked up life is about huste ..look at Chris Benchetler , he is a nice guy, he skis better than 99% of pros and his image is clean cut yet still progressive and he is making more money than almost every other pro skier cause every one of his sponsors (dragon, Dakine, atomic , go pro ) all run adds in powder and Freeskier of him.. And he also hustles and makes amazing content that resonates with an audience which is what it's all about .. As Carl the aspen ski school director told TJ Burke in Aspen Extreme "skiing is the easy part" and this could't be more of the truth if you wanna be a pro skier in today's day and age you need to hustle your ass off .. Best examples of this Ahmet Dadali, Eric pollard,Chris Benchetler, Sean Petit, edollo. Just my opinions.

Thanks for the long, detailed answer. It sucks that some of these guys are risking life and limb out there and they have nothing to show for it, but that's life I guess.......

To sum it up. Companies now relay on you to market yourself via Social Media and those that get the most views will get paid in return.

So you know, kinda like a job. You need to produce to get paid.

Indeed.....com
I think you will see a lot of so called pro's either stepping their social media game up, or dropping out of the scene. Money is tight, and if you don't produce content or win comps then you add no value to the brand. The days of being paid to be a ski bum are pretty much over.

They have the feeling of pure happiness while ripping those sick lines and memories in video form to look back on. At the end of the day skiing is for fun :).
ozzywrong. Bernie Roswow from mammoth
Do you still consider maks gorham a pro? If so, then I'd consider bernie pro...Both in similar situations, I.E. sponsorships from k2/nordica and oakley and whatver, but drive cats at night.
It's not so much about the talent anymore cause so many kids are at that level, but it's more about standing out and working your ass off. Look at the TC guys. They are one of the most hard working and unique crews out there. No one skis like Will and Andy. And thanks to years of hard work and just scraping by, they're now traveling around the world. TC really struck a chord with a lot of people, because, compared to other ski videos and series, they make skiing look accessible and fun. I'd rather get stoked off watching TC than slobbering at Shaun Pettit's heli lines.
