She rips, love to see womens skiing progress like this. Kinda lame she didnt get a spot at either comps
Crilohlol shots fired
There is a reason she doesnt get invited, because she has zero contest results. You don't just post a video of you doing 3 tricks and get invited to xgames.. Kelly was better than most girl skiers when she was 12 but didnt get invited right away because she had to get some contest results.
Anyway, I hope she gets out there and competes, her and kelly could rule womens contest skiing.
So there are basically two girls now that have documented doubles:
Lisa
Kaya
Lisa also spun an opp way sw9. I have to imagine Kelly has been working on some version of a double. Must be happening on some Estonian secret-Shaun-White-like training ground.
I get what eheath is saying and contest results matter, but I still think you start putting anybody that can spin a double on the contest docket.
Why? Because the mere threat of competitors doing a double is going to start pushing the rest of the field to do a double. Some of these comps typically only run 8-10 girls (with non qualifier). I get that the Grand Prix is expanded, but Dew and X-Games are limited this year.
If X-Games is short on time cut it from 3 to 2 runs and expand the field. Do something.
But if everybody is pissing and moaning about women's freeskiing "not progressing" well God damnit at least invite the girls that are actually progressing it and have the ability to move the field.
Zimmerman is a hot mess in comps, but in Dew Tour she may have done pretty well with the Big Air format. She probably would have podiumed. She could put 2 of 4 down both ways and then linked together a rail run in 3 tries. I'm sure of that.

That's pretty stupid.
If I see devin Logan podium with a right 5 missed tail grab when there's girls actually making a point to progress women's skiing not getting a chance to compete im going to lose my mind.
It's embarrassing.
I'll also add that Lisa's sweater choice upped the steeze factor a full 20%

I don't make the rules, just explaining why she isnt in xgames and dew tour. Lisa knows this too...
AdiibAalso this:
Hahahahahahaha. Savage. This girl is my new favorite skier.

They're idiots then-- especially in today's social media world where any of this shit is at anyone's fingertips who cares to look, and people complain nonstop that girls' skiing comps are boring. This girl could show up and toss right 9s, dub 12s, and switch wobbles-- or, hell, crash-- and it'd be twice as entertaining as what they have now. No one except nerds even remembers or cares who won X last year, nevermind lesser results. Invite the best skiers, it's really that simple
eheathI don't make the rules, just explaining why she isnt in xgames and dew tour. Lisa knows this too...
I know I was just saying.
That's like a dub 14 set taken to 12. Honestly haven't seen it thrown like that lol, but hope she can lay that down consistently! Bout time this is happening in women's skiing, and stoked it's happening with someone I hadn't heard of. We need new faces and a new push for progression
But she is going to XGAMES in big air here is the link http://xgames.espn.com/xgames/events/2017/aspen/invitedathletes/

There is also the sponsor exemption or discretionary invite. I thought that was how Kelly and younger competitors (Chloe Kim a few years back) got invited as 14 is an age requirement to be in a lot of the bigger comps.
I get the points thing and that Lisa doesn't have any, but neither would a good skier (Tiril, Maggie, etc) if they were injured for a year to 18 months. I guess I'm saying the points/contest thing shouldn't be the only factor.

THIS !!
She never survived a qualifier in any serious comp she did in the past, did she? So from an organizer's point of view a movie sequence alone doesn't cut it. Why even wasting a spot on her when she can't hold it together and gets consistently and solidly destroyed by all the other girls out there?
Kelly in positive contrast was invited at young age already because she crushed it during any contest. After that they stopped with her for some time because due to her low weight she could not get enough speed to clear the bigger jumps which she still struggles today.

I guess both Eheath and Hackster were wrong.
Just the fact ESPN could showing that clip prior to Lisa's comp run would probably double the excitement of the ladies comp.
Devin can always trot out the ungrabbed 5 though.

To think that she won an olympic silver medal while throwing tricks like that is ridiculous. It's sad how far behind women are in skiing progression. If a slightly-above average male park skier switched genders (honestly wouldn't be surprising nowadays) they could be in the olympics.
I dont usually hop on board with theories like this, but could the reason event promoters dont want her in their events be simply that she is so many levels higher in ability than any other current pro females? Maybe the lack of any serious competition (let's be real here, she would sweep the floor) would be bad in the eyes of sponsors. I have nothing to back this up, and realistically I know nothing about the competition circuit. Just a thought.
so frustrating girls like devin logan get more fame than girls like this
X games? More like x lamessss. haaaa. Gotteem.
JibberinoI guess both Eheath and Hackster were wrong.
Eheath is right when saying the organizers decide whom they want to have on board and tweak their rules accordingly. And that they rather prefer Kelly and others over an inconsistent one like Lisa is - at least currently - a fact too, like it or not.

Why does Women's Big Air exist? Like I am all for equality and everything but that has to be the most boring contest ever

First part isn't true, so I unfortanutly don't have names but in the 2013 Nine Queens at least 4 doubles were sent by 4 different women? 2 dub backies of which only one was landed, a dub front and a Lisa's dub 10. The woman who landed the dub back I also believe through another one in her Dew Tour or X games run that year and didn't even podium. Also about a year ago some girl posted a video on NS of herself sending another dub front and there is some freeride big mountain girl that did a another dub back on a back country jump. Unfortanutly I only have links for the doubles at nine queens though.

Yes, I'm ignoring dub fronts and dub backs. Bobby Brown threw one of those too - like 8 years ago. Jamie Mo Crazy too. It is just you rarely see a 'straight' front or back in any variation in a contest anymore so, while technically true, I'm more just referring to off-axis dubs of which Kaya and Lisa are the only ones.
(btw...I think one of the dub backs was Emma Dahlstrom at 9Queens and the other BC is Tatum Monod).
wameronWhy does Women's Big Air exist? Like I am all for equality and everything but that has to be the most boring contest ever
Valid question as long as you see better stuff from them during the slopestyle contests.

yah tatum threw a dub backie in less by level 1

not exactly no, but sort of. Anyone know why there is only a 5 person field for the women in x games? like c'mon is it really that hard to just run 7, 9 or 12 like men?

No what? What are you trying to say? That link said the exact numbers i said and it shows she did two contests in 2016....

more than none. won a big air last year, she lives overseas not everyone can make it here for everything. I don't think lisa not making top 5 is the problem, toping the field off at 5 is the problem.
UPDATE: looks like lisa was added to big air

I already stated she made it in, shes ranked 6th and received and invite because emma is hurt.
Shes 74th in Slopestyle hence why she wasn't invited. This is all very clear. You have to earn your spot in xgames, they dont just give it to someone who is allegedly better just because they can't travel? Thats not how this works

I just don't view Lisa as completely washed up like you do. She's won nine queens and others. Give her some credit.

When did i ever say she was washed up? I would like to see her at xgames, but making a Facebook post about it with a video of her doing 3 tricks isnt going to help her, she needs to do more contests.

But honestly, credit for what?
Contests rather than vids show what anyone can throw down CONSISTENTLY in variable conditions under some pressure so the organizer's criteria are by no means off in that respect.
As eheath said no vids will ever help her making up for the fact that she got crushed in any slopestyle comp she was recently in. And quite a few other girls threw down harder during slopestyle comps than she did in any of her Big Air contests. As long as she can't land her biggest tricks in contests it will remain breadless work, sad as it is.

Well technically I guess she throws down the hardest? She just doesn't land runs. She should prob tone it down a notch and get some results.

Didn't she try that before and got no results? If so then organizers are still perfectly right with their decision not to invite her and choose other girls instead. Those who land their best tricks, which are nothing short of Lisa's best ones, during comps.
I still doubt she'd medal in slope. Big air is a different story
auskiI still doubt she'd medal in slope. Big air is a different story
Yep.
But was Kaya's actually a true double as everyone is saying? Felt Giulia was underscored though.
