What's the ski scene up here like? Anyone know how Brighton's park is? Is there anywhere else I should check out? I'm a freshman, I'm down to go to Brighton/wherever this season. Hit me up, I'm definitely looking for people to ski with.
I'm down here at ND. Would like to go up to Brighton a time or two...I'm a frosh and don't have a car though so it could be an issue.
Not to threadjack but Im looking for other places to ski in north Indiana/south Michigan if anyone wants to help me
I live in Ann Arbor and have a pass to Brighton, and my wife has a student pass since she's in her doctoral program, which is a pretty good price and the only stipulation is you can only go after 1:00pm. We go quite a bit and Brighton is actually not as bad as online reviews say it is. Yes, it is small, but they have fast tow ropes for the park and they do have a pretty good assortment of features. On the backside of the hill they will usually have another terrain park, depending on the weather, which includes a jump line. Plus you can't beat that it only takes 25 minutes to get there from downtown or 20ish minutes from north campus. If you want to look to some other places that are within an hour of Ann Arbor, you should check out Mt. Holly or Apline valley. If we chose to go any where other than Brighton we usually go to Mt. Holly because it is bigger. Pine knob really isn't worth your time.
Check out Mt Holly ski area, it's just under an hour NE of Ann Arbor. They have a dedicated park crew, rope tows & I presume it'd be cheaper than Brighton. Check out "Flanel Lifestyles" footy on Vimeo, they have a lot of content from Holly & the rest mentioned below.
Also, the undisputed park powerhouse Cannonsburg up in Grand Rapids. Kind of a drive for you but definitely the most fun park setup I ever rode in MI. And it was like 15 bucks w/ college Id.
Bittersweet over in the Kalamazoo area is also pretty tight & would be closer than the burg for yah. They have awesome rail / jump lines typically
Since Vail took over, Brighton's park has been solid. Lots of features, decent size jump line if we get enough snow, and well maintained. Look for me in all black doing old man tricks and give an NS call out.
I'm a freshman as well, from Oregon though and not about to haul my gear out here, afaik there's not really any terrain that's worth that cost and time for me. I am potentially trying to find some skiers for a spring break trip though.
The.FishHAHAHA OSU WON!!! MUCK FICHIGAN!!!
Solid input.

The poll asked about the game. You don't understand the rivalry unless u live in one of the two states.

Go to Bittersweet! Its pretty good for indiana/michigan skiing. I'm from fort wayne myself. Great park compared to many of the other hills around here for sure.

Thanks. At 25, I feel like an old geezer on the site with these whippersnappers throwing Dubs in the park.

You guys lost because your coach can't contain himself and you had like 3-4 turnovers. The only bad call that I agree with was that missed pass interference call. The 1st down in 2 OT was legit. I see why you could be mad at the refs but you guys had some really bad turnovers and unnecessary penalties. I wouldn't have been mad if OSU lost since we missed 2 east field goals and literally didn't do anything in the first half.
Yeah we had a few too many bad turnovers but that unsportsmanlike conduct call was bs and jt barett definitely fell short of the first down. That among the pass interference, holding, etc the refs were on your side the whole fucking game
Not much of a ski scene in Ann Arbor. Im from Kalamazoo but spend my weekends in Ann Arbor visiting my gf at UofM. The hills nearby are all somewhat decent midwest parks, not much of a culture there though. I grew up riding bittersweet, tons of cool people there and everyone is fun to ride with and just hot lap the park all day. My buddies and I sometimes post up out of my girlfriends place and hit some of the handrails around there. There are a ton of super fun lowkey spots that dont even need a winch or bungee and the homeless people are awesome and often come out to watch and help if your near some of their hangouts. Seriously Ann Arbor is one of the coolest towns in Michigan. Hmu anytime.
