Seems kinda weird, keegan doesnt seem like someone that would be on the saga team
shoon_Seems kinda weird, keegan doesnt seem like someone that would be on the saga team
What does that even mean?
HA when Saga talked about adding Will Wesson, they said the team was "stacked enough" and they didnt have payroll for him. Interesting what they are doing, especially since I cant see Keegan on Saga. Saga is full of hoes and it seems like they are trying to sponsor every athlete that is part of Level 1 very slowly... now you can tear me apart.
eheathWhat does that even mean?
I just cant picture keegan on saga, I would see him on like tomahawk or something. But still that gives saga a crazy line up

But why?
We're talking about a skier wearing a certain brand of clothing. How are black saga pants different from black tomahawk pants?
they like to scoop up Superunknown winners

How is this a bad thing? A skier is finally getting an outerwear sponsor, and the company is also benefitting. Saga will definitely give Keegan support this winter, and that right there is good enough for myself. Whoever win's Superunknown always picks up new sponsors in the fall; Saga just see's the high potential coming from these guys
eheathBut why? We're talking about a skier wearing a certain brand of clothing. How are black saga pants different from black tomahawk pants?
He's not talking about their actual products, Saga and Tomahawk just give off different vibes. Saga is more mainstream, picking up athletes who are very well known, while Tomahawk is slightly more underground, and "core". He's saying that Keegan fits more with the Tomahawk vibe than the Saga one.

Not saying theres a huge difference, I just wouldnt see keegan going with saga of all companies. for example you dont picture tom wallisch riding for HG.

This still makes absolutely zero sense. Saga is "core", oakley and tnf would be examples of mainstream... seriously? You guys think saga is mainstream?
This whole 'i cant picture this athlete on this brand' shit is ludicrous, you guys keep doing you, i'll just leave it be.

I believe the only way to be triggered is if you're being trolled and these kids are serious af. I'm just gonna let you guys keep talking about the vibe and culture of brands though.

Seriously..........Saga? He'd fit so much better on the Yoke team.
I think saga picked him up to revamp their brand. Make it more of appealing to skiers who like his style imo.
Honestly thought he was already wearing saga in some of his edits. That flannel he wears looks like a saga flannel... even though all flannels look the same lol.
But yeah I think saga offers products that match his style for sure so its not that big of a surprise to me
I don't see him fitting on the saga team but that's just me.
ski.the.eastthey like to scoop up Superunknown winners
yeah? vanular, jd zicat, mike clarke, tom, brogan, niklas, logan, sig tveit, LSM, magnus, mitchell brower and jonah...lotta saga guys on that list?
danbrownyeah? vanular, jd zicat, mike clarke, tom, brogan, niklas, logan, sig tveit, LSM, magnus, mitchell brower and jonah...lotta saga guys on that list?
I mean they've picked up the past 3 including Keegan. But who cares
I think my IQ dropped a few points after reading my own response

hear me out
Each brand has a specific sort of image that they portray and usually the athletes on their roster reflect that ( for the most part). Regardless of how "core" saga is they have a certain aesthetic. Some skiers suit certain brands aesthetics more than others. look at jossi wells, the dudes all about being cool as fuck- how weird would it be if he started reping yoke collection? A brand that vibes off being weird and eating burritos. The same could be said for keegan per say, I personally feel he suits saga pretty well but for the sake of the argument lets say he doesn't. Keegan and his boys have a very thug approach to skiing, baggy af tall ts and what not is what they rock usually, you don't see saga going that route to much anymore. He would suit a brand like bloom well because they fit that.

I never said all of them but lately it's been the trend, so I'm not really surprised they grabbed Keegan
Eh I don't see him on there, but whatever. Its up to Kegan

jonah and mitchell both rode for saga before they won superunknown
danbrownjonah and mitchell both rode for saga before they won superunknown
I thought Mitchell was after. Jonah was before for sure though
danbrownjonah and mitchell both rode for saga before they won superunknown
...ok? And next year the winner will probably be on saga too, before or after they win, doesn't matter
keegs just seems like way too serious and dope of a skier to have cheeseburgers on his outerwear. wish he stayed with tomahawk they're such a dope company
eheathBut why? We're talking about a skier wearing a certain brand of clothing. How are black saga pants different from black tomahawk pants?
Can't stress this enough. We'be progressed into a time that the same product can be deemed cool or uncool because of the logo and it kinda sucks.
Here's the thing: it all comes down to money.
I'm just speculating, but I would say it's reasonable to infer that Saga probably gave him the most money.
If it came down to it for you, would you rather ski for brands that pay you less and not be able to ski full time/professionally? or would you rather be able to ski full time and not have to worry about money because the brand you're skiing for pays you more than the other brands.
It's like Ahmet Dadali used to be sponsored by Under Armour, not exactly the "core" brand you'd think he'd be reppin'. Why was he with them then? Probably because they offered him the most money.
However, I think most of the time that you see guys really choosing which brand they want to sign with based on how well they think they would fit with the goals ("vibe") or the brand, is when both the brands in question ("core" and "mainstream") offer them the same amount of money or a similar amount. Granted there is always exceptions to this and some guys really would just rather sign with a brand that they feel they fit in with and they're willing to take the pay cut for it, if indeed there is a pay cut.
Holy shit I need to quit skiing. If you honestly care who sponsors what skier then you're a fucking idiot. It's a fucking product for fucks sake. This thread is the epitome of why newschoolers is going down hill. Keegan isn't even a big name, he just won super unknown.
Could care less about who rides for who, or who's wearing what pants. I do find it interesting that they are putting keegan on contract (paying him, who knows how much) and they weren't down to pay jonah (if i recall correctly).
Both superunknown winners who are sick and relatively new dudes, but why not contract both of em? For god sake jonah is one of the sickest out right now, imo it's about time to give steven stepps the boot!
solid.seveni feel dumber after reading this thread

Seems reasonable which and this is usually the reason people sign with a company, but I remember at the end of the season they weren't looking for a new member after not signing Will Wesson due to a stacked team and no funds for me people. Maybe something changed, I'm just curious what made them sign Keegan and not Will. I wouldn't mind seeing both of them on Saga.
stoked for keegan! NS kids always think way too hard about who sponsors who and their perceived "vibe" of the company, get over it
There is so much misinformation and speculation in this thread I don't even know where to start.
But I'll try,
Every super unknown winner or finalist (with the exception of Keegan) we were either already in talks with or sponsoring prior to the event and were approached by them first. Additionally we had been watching them for a few years waiting to see if they were going to take their skills to the next level. The same can be said for Keegan. Who, through a mutual friend, had asked for some pants last winter to which we happily obliged.
With other athletes and contracts referenced, will and Jonah, you have to look at them in a case by case scenario. Will is a good friend and we didn't feel we could adequately support his career to the level we would like to at this time. Jonah was offered a contract but it was not what he was looking for/not as much as another brand.
I can't really say much to the "Keegan doesn't fit with Saga's style". That is complete opinion. We feel we have people on our team from just about every genre of freestyle skiing. All the way from Durtschi/Wiley to Steve to Franchino/Gaeta(who both also ski for HG). We approach people to sponsor because of their personalities and because we like to support those people who want to push and grow skiing.
Like I said, there is a lot of speculation in this thread. All that is fine. But maybe don't make up your mind completely about a brands image with a certain skier before the season even starts. We're beyond hyped that Keegan wanted to join our team and are really looking forward to what he brings to skiing and the future of Saga.
S.J.W. Keegan isn't even a big name, he just won super unknown.
That's arguably true right now, but if he keeps going how he has been, he's going to be a big fucking deal.

On a completely unrelated note a out your rider spectrum, is Frej still on the team, he disappeared after preseason
I really feel like Keegan is a much bigger deal than will Wesson for the average saga outerwear customer.

We haven't heard from Frej since he stop devoting his days to skiing.
