I am thinking about picking up a pair of these sticks for the 16/17 season. As a competitive big mountain ski, I am interested in how they perform. Any review helps.

I wrote a review about the 13/14s Shreditors. The newer Pettitors are the same just different topsheet.

It s not written in the finest English cause it isn t my mother tongue :D
I thought they were a fun ski, super poppy/playful, got a little scary going super fast through tracked snow though. Tips started to flail around. Then again i'm 6'2" 190lbs

Do you think smoothing the edges out around the tip/tail would make them less catchy and more buttery?

Thanks for letting me know!

They were super buttery i didn't find them catchy at all, they just had a lower speed limit than what i enjoy

Where did you mount them? Would you recommend true center?

The Pettitors don t even have the core centered :D For a max of jibbing and sacrifying its speed and huck performance go for -2 from core center. You can easily see it on the scale on the side wall.
I d recommend +2 from traditional.

Hmmm ok, I'm pretty sold on them
Any big dudes ski the 179 and like it. Im looking for a short ski too maximize my jibbing capabllities.
LazerHawk?
Collin Collins rides a 179 I believe and he's like 6'2
I love this ski as a playful Pow ski. I've used it numerous times in comps too. But from experience unless you have a good quiver. For hard pack conditions they are far to soft in the tail. You really have to land well centered. I'm 170 use a 179 mounted 2 back from center.
For a real competitive pow ski look into the pinnacle 118. It's a sick ski. I mounted mine +5 in front of recommended to make it more playful and its rad!

True. This is why I even thought about it in the first place. He is much lighter than me though.. I need to lose 20 lbs before next season.

I already have 189 billy goats as a charger that can still have a lil fun.. I'm looking for something extremely turny and jibby. For fast, tight trees and jibbing around at medium speeds. I dont mind skiing centered, I have pretty good balance even at over 200lbs.

As a competitive Big Mountain Ski I feel they may be a bit too soft for you. I rode a pair in a 2* FWQ even in Grand Traghee and they didn't feel that stable on steep and fast sections but on the other side of things just ripping them around the resort and messing around was super fun!

What size were you on, how big are you?

I'm somewhere between 5'10 and 5'11 and I weigh about 175 pounds. I had borrowed them from a friend as it was dumping and I didn't have Pow skis but I'm pretty certain they were 179cm. They also felt quite heavy and required a lot of energy to maneuver for that size, I ride 185 Bent Chetlers now and much prefer them.
Thanks. That sounds perfect for me, I like heavy skis. As long as I stay centered, it should be damp enough for me

Let me know how they workout when u ski them
Should I mount them -1 or -2 from center?? Hmmm

I'd go centre honestly
Hmmm, Ive never mounted a ski exactly at center. I liked -2 on both the 179 and 189 shreditor 112.
All the K2 athletes ski them at center though, so im sure that went into the design a bit.

I wouldn't go center. Go -2....only time you should ever go center is on a symmetrical ski IMO. If its not completely symmetrical then a center usually fucks with the sidecut/turning. -2 will still be a more centered stance and help with swinging them around without screwing with the turn
Im going to look over the camber and sidecut profiles when I get them, and go as close to center as I feel comfortable with.
All the K2 athletes had theirs centered, but I think -2 is better for me.

Absolutely, i bought them, and have been ripping them as more of a backcountry booter ski/resort ski and they rip! I have occasionally taken them into some steep rough stuff and they are very dense, so that helps with stability, but hey are just too heavy!
