Wondering if there are any Austria Ns'ers out there or more specifically Innsbruck Im only a sophomore in high school right now but have been looking into Innsbruck and was wondering if anyone had any inside recommendations/advice/information. It seems like a good school, nice campus, good city, fairly close to a few ski resorts. Looking at taking a trip there Next year to see it if anyone is there and wanted to show me around or take a lap if anywhere is open that would be great.
Innsbruck is awesome. Really fun city with some classical Euro architecture that is literally in the middle of some huge mountains. At one of the IF3 festivals, Sage went downhill mountain biking before the show and rode his bike directly from the trails to the event haha. Access to mountains is literally at your feet. It has a young average age of the people who live there, with cool shops and restaurants. Both Armada and Burton have their European HQs there, so there could be some rad intern opportunities for you. And it's rather close to Italy and Switzerland, which you can easily access by the main train station in town. I said this to someone not too long ago- if I could pick up Atomic and move it somewhere else in Austria, it would be Innsbruck.

I had a look at it when i was trying to decide whether i would do university or try and ski as much as possible. I thought it would be a perfect compromise where i would both be getting a degree and still being able to ski a lot.
However i'd say from my basic research i found that if you are at all academically gifted it doesnt stack up anywhere near some of the universities i could have gone to if skiing was a priority. Most Universities will run ski trips, which are usually pretty cheap in comparison to your standard family trip for instance.
My thoughts are, if you want to get a good education, do just that. Go to the best possible school you can and deal with only skiing a couple of weeks a year. If you want to ski as much as possible, sack off uni and go work in a resort. Find a job that you might be mildly interested in and build experience, shit you might even end up moving up through the ranks and earning more than what you'd earn if you had a degree. that coupled with skiing 5 days a week isn't the worst thing in the world.
The other thing you have to be aware of is that only about half the courses are conducted in english i believe, so you'd need to make sure that what ever course you picked was in english, unless you are fluent in german.

I dont know, im from england so i very much doubt you'll be applying to any unis here. Find out where good universities are that do courses you want to do and then see if the have a ski society or group that organises regular trips to the mountains.
I'm currently studying in Innsbruck and I have to say it's pretty much perfect! Awesome mountains all around, park skiing from the beginning of october until the end of may, endless opportunities for basically every other mountain related activity. Basically everyone here is here because of the mountains and sports, so you will get to meet lots of people with the same interests as you, which makes getting to know people and making friends really easy. The nightlife is pretty awesome too, unless you like bigger clubs, but we do have tons of awesome bars that often host movie premieres and stuff like that!
pm me if you need more specific informations!

We have a carrot running for president and doing well saying he will fuck up Mexicans and Muslims. You actually think we are the best country? I love America but you dont want to explore other areas, countries, mountains, terrain, culture and even fucking women? Besides, I have a fairly big problem with the US's agricultural and food system (the world too) but it is big in the Us too. / end wall of poor grammar.
I m studyin there. Quiet fun, great vibes, cool uni and mainly rad people. Skig is awsome af too.

I agree continue your purging.
Euro person's input here: 1. Hope you speak German. 2. Hope you realize you need at least a Master's degree from Austria to be employable anywhere. 3. You tend to work where you graduate, don't expect to be going back to the US anytime soon after that. Any US diplomaed kid will get hired there before you.

I was learning german for a while but I was taking Spanish to and couldn't learn both at the same time, but i am revisiting it. I would go for a masters or doctorate. Also looking at colorado state and boulder. Maybe live in utah and till it counts as instate then go there? Idk ill probably end up going to Portland or BSU

You don't just go for a masters or doctorate. Not really how college works. Also unless you're close to fluent in German and have amazing grades you're not getting in. And if you do get in, you'll most likely fail (we have 10 classes per semester out here, no picking and you have to pass them all or you stay back a full year)
CU Boulder is a much funner place to go too, take it from someone who has gone to school on both continents. I would have loved having 2 more years at Penn it was a fucking blast, and shout out to Big Boulder while we're at it!
