What are your thoughts about this little ski area in Southern Oregon?
It looks dope. Things haven't lined up for me to ski there yet but I will someday. The terrain there looks amazing.
OregonDead
certainly not selling it on good snow
Grew up there! Fun spot with dope natural terrain!
interesting location for weather. did not open 2 years ago due to lack of snow. when it hits ive heard it is super fun.
Lived there for 4 years. Worked there for 2 of them (it was closed the last year I was there due to literally no snow)
That said... Mt. Ashland is fucking dope.
It's some of the steepest lift serviced terrain in the state (even though when you're at the top, you're probably mostly looking at mountains down across the border in California) and it's a chill old putt-putt chairlift resort without all the bullshit and with all the good stuff.
The Bowl is a legit spot to earn your keep. Good drops. Good steeps. Not the longest terrain, but comparable to the terrain you'd see at hyped resorts. It's real - especially if you take it with speed...
The only complaints I have about it is that it's lacking in size, and variety, it's lacking in terrain park, it's lacking in parking, and it's lacking in yearly snowfall as compared to other areas in CA and OR.
They get around 350" a year or so. Not amazing by any means, but when it's good, it's REAL good... and it stays cold once winter is in true form, so the base will retain well.
If you want to get into some backcountry stuff, there's a fully open backcountry at your disposal, as well... And a lot of the terrain up there isn't to be trifled with.
Plus, look at this view. Ashland is rad. I'd move back in a heartbeat.
