what happened?
My first memory of hitting a rail I was like 11 years old, I was a racer and I tried to hit a mailbox rail, slipped out hard to my ass and all I wanted to do was try it again haha.
I caught my front edge and went face first into an ice patch. I've had a chipped front tooth ever since.
my first time i hit an actual rail I slid almost all the way to the end. I made sure I had boxes down before transitioning to rails. But my first time hitting a tube i slipped out and landed on my hip and thought I was going to die. Then I proceded to hike the down tube until i greased it.
Then I didnt hit anything in the park for 2 years and im back at square one. : )
Pre-season park 2012. No flat features. Friend taught me how to slide the C-box in the park. He told me that every feature feels exactly the same. Tried a down rail and he was right. .
I was about 9 at the time taking my dog for a walk in January. Then I saw these guys dressed in black and they had skis on. weird, right? I saw one of them do this grind on a handrail and all the guys yelled when he landed. Didn't make any sense. I was curious so I said hi. They threw me in their van and went to another handrail 5 miles down the road. This one went down and flat and down and flat and down again. It must have been over 100 feet long and the hill was really steep. They put me in some skis and told me to hold on to this water skiing handle. I asked them why they were doing this. They answered that I was the Guinea pig. Confused but before I could speak, I heard a roar and the handle pulled me 45mph at this piece of metal. I flew and landed on the last down segment of this rail and my knees went through my chest. The next morning I woke up in a hospital bed with a dvd that said superproof on it and a cigarette inside the dvd. I hope your experience was better than mine.
I got sacked... and laid down for 15 minutes.
Ahhhh, my first rail.
Let's just say, I blew it.
4 foot up cannon with no lip when I was 10...
I somehow made it on the rail but slipped out and didn't hit another rail or box for 6 years
It was a down box. Slew almost all the way down but my edge caught on the side. Did a faceplant.
switched over from snowboarding to skiing my freshman year, so i knew what sliding a rail felt like. My friend had this 10 foot round, metal hand rail and thats what I learned on. I slipped out tons of times but finally got most of it and i was hyped
My first rail was a flat rail, I slid literally 2 inches and bit it. I laid next to it for like 10 minutes and I got up and threw up, this one snowboard dude helped me find my sister and then those ski Doctor patrol things told me I had a concussion and that's why I threw up. It was kinda fun. Ahh, the memories.
I somehow managed to land directly on my balls after hitting it and ejecting
Believe or not I think I slid it about four times in a row without stacking. Thought I was king so tried a longer pipe and got my ski caught underneath flipped and landed on my face
Don't remember when or where exactly, but I do remember sliding out and eating shit, far from my worst fall though, didn't hurt that badly.
Wish I had a better story of a massive fail to tell now but I'm 90% sure I didn't really fall, just vent off to the side way to early for a couple of days before finding the balance. Took me forever to start jumping with both feets at the same time tho, started out lifting my left ski on the rail before jumping/stepping up with my right foot to.

That's hilarious, was the ski movie any good?
VinnieFI happen to have a video. 2005 I think.

my only downhill stuff. I did tele pretty much exclusively then. Tried downhill on a school trip and liked it so bought the cheapest boots I could find and found a pair of skis in the garbage. Good times.

this made my day
I broke my left arm for a second time on my first shotgun rail. I didnt hit the park until 2 years after because the arm injury made me grow a pussy, but after drinking 5 monsters, i had a 14 incher
i was probably like 8 years old. I was at big sky. I was a tourist gaper with rentals.
i tried a tube rail that was pretty much 6 inches of the ground but I could barely get onto it. When I did get on, I had horrible form so i kept falling on my hip and bruising it. I eventually gave up.
first day skiing. did a couple runs on the hill to learn how to turn and stop. went to park after an hour and some kids were too scared to hit the rail so i tried. skis slammed into side of the rail and double ejected over the rail
I had just bought some park skis cause all my friends were park skiers. One of them has huge hill and an awesome jib park in his backyard. They got me super hyped and after a few falls I finally did it.
I didn't stagger my feet and I slid out and ate shit. Had a bruise on my hips for two weeks but I got rails down that same day.
