Myself and about 4 other buddies (5 people in total) are driving out to hood in June (12-22). We're looking to stay in a cabin but are trying to find good areas no more than a 40 min drive to hood to rent. Government camp seems to be pricey. Anyone know of areas? We aren't looking to camp.
camping around govy is fun af though. Hammocks >>> tents
buy tents and tarps and camp. It's the best way to do it. The cost of renting a house is way over priced.

you check VRBO or AIRBNB? even craigslist maybe? try the 'towns' Welches, Rhododendron, Brightwood, Wemme.
i live year round here in welches....find a vaacation rental in rhody or welches or just fucking camp you vaginas
get a tent, place yourself inside, go the fuck to sleep.
even easier with a hammock!
If you are going with friends to mt hood for 10 days and aren't looking to camp maybe you should just reconsider your life all together. You should go to med school and get a good job or something so that you make a lot of money so that you can travel to mt hood and stay indoors and enjoy the magical luxuries of running water and a roof, because a real ski bum doesn't get these things.
Camp at the airstrip, you need a tarp, even though you probably wont get rained on much in june, there is lake trillium to cool off in, a chill spot to skate, and your around everyone else who is there to ski and have fun. The timberline day lodge gives you access to bathrooms and water as well which is nice.
