I work at T-Line during summers and absolutely love it.
However after several summers I know it's not for everyone.
Ideally it is really hard to balance skiing a lot and still having a comfortable life unless you have financial support or savings.
I love Hood because I can bare sleeping in my truck camper shell for three months, eating the same shit food from Charlie's/The Ratskeller over and over. Not having regular access to showers... Etc....
The main thing to consider if you've never skiied Hood in summer is how dedicated you are to riding. The snow is shit you only have from about 8am-2pm. To get on the glacier you spend about 30 minutes on a two chair link. You won't be able to hit the Windells/HCSC or MHSSC parks unless you poach, or get permission. Overall the skiing is the worst you'll ever see but it is skiing in the summer.
The huge incentive to work at Timberline is a free pass.
The huge incentive to work at a camp is to use there parks
The huge incentive to not go to Hood is to get better employment and save for winter.
I love living in Oregon not only for skiing Palmer, but fishing, backpacking, rafting so the skiing becomes just an added bonus.
My job is in parking, it pays shit but gives me time to ride.
I only work parking for the hours which work to catch the lift.
I switch between early shifts 5am-12pm or late 10am-5pm
We spend the first half of summer setting up fences and clearing the runs of trash. Than the second half of summer we help park the camp buses and monitor the lots.
Sorry for the novel!
