Can't find a thread on this...crying for Ian C right now. Apparently he has a immobilized foot and is pretty much totally out of skiing at this point. God this is hard.

Wow, this is so sad. I couldn't imagine having to give it all up like that. I hope he'll be able to get back out there one day. Wishin him some good luck in recovery and any/all new adventures.(:
Vibes to Ian. He has one of the best attitudes a skier could have. I wish him the best.
freeskibum82in before this thread gets deleted too..
Why would it get deleted?
Vibes to ian, I cant imagine being in his place rn.
Damn that sucks. Thought this thread was a joke at first when I saw the one footer on the rail. Positive vibes.
Nothing but love to Ian right now. So sad to hear this
So sad to hear this. My favourite In Compton quote, "Shut the fuck up Andy!"
Major vibes. Been a huge style inspiration since day one.
Here's a little something for the nostalgia.

Am I the only one wondering why he is giving up on the use of his foot instead of getting fusion surgery or any other kind of treatment to reduce the herniation pressing on his spinal chord?

maybe he doesnt have insurance or a job that provides insurance

Lol I remember you from the Bernie Sanders thread... You argued that since you have good health insurance you would be voting against single payer healthcare and that the United States should give up on that idea. This is the sort of thing that happens when some people can't get health insurance. Have fun being a sheltered asshole.

Lol I remember you from that Ian Compton thread where you tried to make a vibes thread into something political.
Really feel for Ian though hopefully he can become a ski personality instead

Obamacare. Why wouldn't he have even ghetto insurance? I feel like this isn't the issue. Maybe I'm wrong?

Never said that. You're mistaking me for someone else. Thanks for the good vibes though :)
I would assume that it has more to do with the injury, than the cost of fixing it. We are talking about a dude who defines himself through being active, now having a paralyzed foot. I know I personally would go into debt many times over to have full bodily function.
Vibes for Ian, one of the sickest east coast skiers
Dam, vibes go out to you ian, u were the biggest insperation to me when i first got into park. Used to see u at carinthia all the time it must be so hard to give it all up, best of luck to you dude.
Poor guy id be devistated if that happened to me.. he needs to see a specialist and come back to skiing.. his show was dope skiing needs ian compton

Vibes ian you are an east coast icon and always will be good luck!
vibes to ian. as someone with a herniated disc, its really not cool and the constant pain does not put you in a good mental space. hopefully he can have some success with surgery and get back at it
Super sad and I feel so bad for the guy. Sending my vibes your way, Ian.
My dad actually had 2 herniated disks and could barely function. He found out about this type of treatment that is literally just a ton of different specific stretches no surgery or shots or anything and did it. His back is totally fine now. He went from 2 herniated disks that were so bad you could see them bulging on his back, to having almost no back issues at all and he's back to skiing hard again. I don't know, something to think about. Its called the Egoscue method if anyones interested. http://www.egoscue.com

Ive got a couple herniated discs as well, upper thoracic and down by my hips. I get tingling down my leg every now and then so this definitely makes me want to go get checked out thoroughly now.

belden...Lol I remember you from that Ian Compton thread where you tried to make a vibes thread into something political.Really feel for Ian though hopefully he can become a ski personality instead
I wasn't trying to make this political, I don't really care about American politics. But i remembered how he said that the U.S. shouldn't have single payer healthcare, and then asked why a skier that doesn't make much money doesn't just go and get a complicated and expensive operation.
My jaw dropped. I'll miss Ian forever from the skiing scene. I possibly have a hairline fracture on my fibula and not being able to even ski this weekend is driving me nuts! Best luck to Ian
He would have never had any of "this" without skiing. Every good thing eventually comes to an end. He can always appreciate the wonderful opportunities and people that skiing has given him. He shouldn't feel bad, disappointed yes, but he has gotten more opportunities and experiences than anyone could wish
That sucks. I couldn't imagine not being able to ski again
Almost teared up when reading every ones responses. I always looked up to you Ian sad to hear this news, nothing but love and respect for you as a person and a skier. You will be missed but your presence in the sport will always be felt for me
Ian was and still is such an inspiration to me, he made skiing what is should be- fun and spontaneous.
Such a legend!
Damn. I saw this thread but hadn't clicked it till now. Hopefully he's able to get something done at some point and get back out there. I can't even imagine.
Poor guy
Ian's head was always in the right place, met him at millington for the TAFT this season, one of the nicest guys I've met. Tbh I teared up when I saw this on insta. Vibes to him and hopefully he'll get back out there.

I guess people don't realize this is a lot bigger deal than dude can't ski anymore. This is a serious quality of life issue- he is basically crippled. Fuck getting back out there skiing, I hope the guy can get treatment that lets him live a normal life.
Is he getting an operation? If money for that is a problem could we all please agree that we will collectively contribute?
So sad to hear about this... I have never met Ian in person, but he seems like the nicest and most down to earth guys in the community..

Do not make stupid comments like this if you don't have any medical knowledge. There are different stages of disc herniation and different stages of involvement.
