Looked down some before and it gives me the heebies when you can't see the bottom, like you'll go to the centre of the earth...
Watched this just the other day
Generally a bigger hazard on the way up.
I have had a rope partner punch through a big one on a glacial traverse. Thankfully we were roped up and had some extra man power.
Early season they can be treacherous, as the snow caps are just forming.

looks eery as fuck.. I was actually skiing in the valley just over from chamonix near courmoyeur when I had my close call, its so glaciated in that area

same thing happened to me on my first glacier experience. was the third guy on the rope too we all walked over the snow bridge.
personally, imnacared shitless of them. i know where to look for them and all that but its still super scary.
the worst is you spend all winter sledding or touringover a spot and then go back in the summer and its just riddled with open crevacces.

Nice to see a fellow Scotsman on NS,
I skied the glacier down from Monte Rosa into Zermatt. The guide said 1 month before a German skier was skiing too far away from the group on an exposed part of the glacier instead of in the guides tracks and had gone down a Crevasse. They couldn't pinpoint exactly where he'd gone in and were never able to find him. Poor guy. Very scary.

Were very few and far between haha,
Its a horrible thought, our guide was telling us that he fell into one aswell but luckily didn't go down too deep

Very tenuously related, but I thought it might be of interest to you lads since your both Scots and I'd imagine you've run a few laps through the Northern Corries. -https://cairngormwanderer.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/a-glacier-in-the-cairngorms/
Drives me nuts seeing videos like that. I ski on that glacier a lot and plenty of the time they are easy to pinpoint, but you never know when you are standing on a 6 inch snowbridge or something.
