I'm heading to sun valley in a couple days and have absolutely no idea what to expect. I won a 3 day lift ticket, so why not. whats the ski area like?
Wondering the same thing. Jr's are out there this year
it's big and has some of the best groomers you'll ever have the pleasure of ripping. small crowds, basically limitless potential in the trees if you're there during a dump. really it's a big, fun mountain with side hits all fucking over the place. baldy itself doesn't have a park, but there's a good one down the street at dollar. most of you guys are park skiers so that probably sounds more enticing, but if you're there for a few days i really highly suggest checking out baldy, it's just a great mountain

Right on. Forecast is calling for some snow while I'm there
So there are two mountains and both are included in the lift and a great bus system to take you to either. The terrain park is on Dollar Mtn. and is smaller but super dope. one jump line with like 25-35 footers and a big booter line with two 65ish footers and a super fun step up thats like 35-40'. They change up the rail features pretty regularly but all are fun. only green and super easy blue runs outside of the park.
Baldy Mtn. has 90% of the terrain. Like said above, groomers that rip, badass tree skiing with some fresh snow, and an all around really fun mountain. Some decent bumps too if you're into that. All in all definitely worth a trip! Ketchum is a pretty cool city to hang out in too
Some of the best terrain you will ever ski. Runs are so long your legs start to burn. Bowls are incredible, groomers are perfect, and the parks are always on point, but on a different mountain.
Hell yeah boys I'm stoked, I appreciate all the insight!!
If there's powder it's amazing other than that its ok but free tickets are free tickets

I will second this. Sun Valley was the first place I ever skied out west. I was in 8th grade and I did not want to come home. It is a fun mountain, great groomers, good trees, and open bowls. If you are from the east I suggest avoiding the park, even though it is good. You can always ski the park back home, you might as well take advantage of a big western mountain when you get the chance.
The one thing I will say is that it is not super steep. Don't go there expecting Squaw of Jackson because you will be disappointed.
Have fun.

hi jake
If you are expecting to ski park don't because it is so fucking bad right now they said they will fix everything with in a week but not so sure if your going to just ride baldy you should be pleased its really good conditions and weather and shit lately
yo! just got back from sun valley, was a pretty fun few days of skiing. I stayed off dollar as most of you suggested and just kind of ripped down baldy all 3 days. had some snow (6-8 inches) on friday/saturday but they fucking groomed after all the snow had fallen. overall it was a fun cruiser mountain i definitely appreciate all the insight everyone gave. also checked out seattle ridge, holy shit what a view from that lodge. the kegs blew out on 3 seperate occasions when we were getting pitchers up there and got 2-3 free pitchers every time we bought one haha it was dope. plus they walked around with free pizza once the kitchen closed
