I've tuned my own skis almost all of my ski career, but lately I've been filling gouges and the ptex has been cracking. Anyone know how this is caused, or ways to prevent it?

I haven ever had this issue but I would imagine it is caused by the way you apply it. Make sure the ski is room temperature and you are keeping a blue flame by keeping the candle close to the ski. It may just be that you bought bad ptex or its defective. Also make sure you hot wax after you apply it.

make sure the base is clean and dry then fill the gouge, allow the ptex to cool, scrape, and fill again until it's almost unnoticeable.
