While doing butters or disasters, how hard or how common is it for your ski to break? I saw someone break a ski in a traveling circus videos a while back but I forget who.
Dennis_ReynoldsTry riding afterbangs
That's what I have for urban haha rocking al dentes on the mountain this year. That's why I was curious because they are buttery as fuck.
You would have to try to snap or break them. chances are your not doing anything crazy enough to do that on accident, no offense OP just sayin. unless your riding surface skis..... thats a different story
Yeah, Ross landed upside down and cracked his ski in an episode, but thats a lot of force. Don't worry about it, its very unlikely

No offense taken! I figured you'd have to be doing some pretty gnarly shit especially since I've never seen it in person. Thanks for the advice homies!
I used to do Aral skiing at lake placid and we broke skis all the time, but the only thing your gonna break is edges
I've ridden both surface (blanks, lab 2.0, doubletime) and Line (afterbangs, chronics and blends) and have never had any problem or worry about any of those models breaking, snapping or making pressure cracks. I think their reputation for that got blown way out of proportion. just saying.
I did a front flip and snapped my ninthward butterlicious cause i under rotated and it stabbed into the snow and snapped right in half. I think buttery skis are more prone to this happening.
unfortunately happens every season for me. it happens mostly when you're edges are already pretty fucked up and water gets to the core, weakening it in the process. mine always broke right behind the bindings. happened to me with 3 pairs of K2, 1 Revival and 2 Recoils and with Moment Vices

I've heard about surface skis cracking a lot. I don't know much about them. What is the deal?
Yeah, if you bend them the wrong way (like away from you if that makes sense) it's not that hard to snap most skis.
AnesteeziaI've heard about surface skis cracking a lot. I don't know much about them. What is the deal?
That comment was more of a joke haha ik they used to be really bad with that but i think they have gotten better and made them stronger. dont know for sure though
Might just bring my afterbamgs with me to the mountain everyday as a backup just incase... Even though I hate those things, they are durable.
I snapped one pair of skis clean in half, and another I split down the middle from tip to binding. It's not impossible but it takes some serious force.
had a friend that snapped a pair of ar7s last season on the landing of some flat rail, just sliding the rail, not buttering/hucking anything huge. i hear that the al dentes are way more buttery than the ar7s, so id be careful. maybe it was just a bad pair though...

ar7's are stiff as fuck and bombproof. Must have landed in the absolute worst possible position or had a faulty pair.
And OP, if Henrik himself can get a full season out of one pair of Al Dentes, I'm sure you'll be fine. PS I'm jealous, my punx are way stiffer than I would have liked :p
It is very uncommon. Prior damage has to be done. In that traveling circus, their skis were probably trash before that from all the other rails and things
My friend snapped a pair of masterminds. other than that, I've never seen a ski snap IRL. Just don't buy price point skis if (you're a big guy), and don't land poorly (IE hooking tips on a 30 foot backy) and you most likely won't snap your skis.
ive never seen someone snap a ski doing butters and shit unless it was horribly damaged already with edge missing etc
ive only snapped skis eating shit when going pretty fast or big. twice on reallllly beat up skis, once on skis that im pretty sure were in fine shape

I'll try and be careful but no guarantees haha worse case scenario, I get a faulty pair and have to get the new edollos haha if only...
One time I did a flair in the pipe and my ski went like vertically into the snow and snapped the tail
WVskiingOne time I did a flair in the pipe and my ski went like vertically into the snow and snapped the tail
bad luck haha
WVskiingOne time I did a flair in the pipe and my ski went like vertically into the snow and snapped the tail
same except mine was a frontflip off no jump.
so op, its reasonably likely when jamming your skis vertically into the ground. as i have just experienced :(
Ive snapped tons of skis, one season I snapped 4 individual rossignol s4s, Ive also snapped chronics, anthems, and volkl walls.
I feel like anything short of a totally ridiculous crash where the ski definitely should snap, Armada will be pretty good about warranty. If you speak with a representative and explain the situation they are usually pretty understanding and chill (not that it's likely that you'd end up in this position, but its always good to know the protection is there). I looked through the Armada warranty policy and they list a number of exceptions to the warranty policy, one being "Broken, damaged, or snapped skis caused by uncontrolled impact and/or crash (If you crash your new Audi into a telephone pole on day 1, you don’t get a new car – if you snap your ski landing on your back while jumping off a cliff, or super-under-rotate your rodeo and your ski breaks – no warranty)". Even if you did break it in some freak situation, I feel like the company is pretty lenient and would be happy to ship you a fresh pair-- they really just want to keep the customer coming back and they know you'll buy more skis from them.
i snapped my joysticks a few years ago but that was due to it getting caught inside a pvc (tried doing an unsuccessful switchup over a gap haha). Not exactly suprised by the outcome, glad my knee is still intact

Have been on Surface for 7 years now. NEVER had a problem with durability, breaking, etc. I guess if your a die hard park rider and slam your skis into metal rails all day and slam them on icy landings they will brake....makes sense right?
Well I know putting some head mad trix between two couches and jumping on them won't work, but wedging them between a couple trees and using the front bumper of a car will do it.
I snapped the tail of an NS'ers Masterminds by trying to tail press. They flexed the fuck out without much force at all. If you weigh more than like 120lbs those things are gonna give the fuck out on you.

That's clutch dude I've never looked at their policy for that. Armada has always treated me super good though.

On a tail press?... That's nuts. Good thing you didn't land backseat off a huge booter haha you might not be hear to tell about it.
J-WilePS I'm jealous, my punx are way stiffer than I would have liked :p
I just bought a pair of j's hoping there be more buttery than the punx

Let me know how they are. Interested in grabbing a pair at some point.

Yeah I'll tell you how they are after a few days compared to the punxs

I highly doubt that Henrik gets a full season out of one pair of skis.

they break in after a while.
Mine were definitely not that stiff and definitely not bombproof haha

Surface I would agree I dont know anyone that has snapped a pair except banks once but line I know 6 kids that have broken just the mestermind

I would guess that was a faulty pair or he snapped or cracked on something else before that rail and he noticed or the last few splinters of wood gave out and broke.

just stay away from mastermind and I think line is pretty much bombproof

Eh ive heard stories of chronics snapping and a pair of invaders too but idk im not really a line person.

You Da Mane!

i was thinking the same thing...
My surfaces snapped, only ski to do so, but I think it was because of how stupidly stiff it was for a park ski. Little to no flex

What about surface skis more specifically the blanks? are they bad or what?

Every surface ski I've ridden have had shit durability. There's a reason their cheap lol

What's a playful good durable pyre park ski that if pretty might flexy and you can screw around on that us durrable? Thinking if the A bangs

would they be to stiff for me i am 5'4 to 5'5 and 120 lbs and would they snap or break on me?
Roll your truck over it to make it more rocker. that will break a ski. Does anyone have that vid?
Ive snapped a few just carving down the mountain on ice or doing moguls on a daily basis for 2 years. Crashes tend to kill skis.

stiff is more of a preference what ski are you on now and how do you like its flex
my friend had this old pair of afterbangs that were already sorta falling apart last year and we tried to snap them. He lay it across two benches and jumped on them like a trampoline almost, it took 30 minutes to hardly snap one ski. I dont think it will be a problem on snow
jmellberg800stiff is more of a preference what ski are you on now and how do you like its flex
I'm on line superheros but they are a hr ski and personal y I kinda like the flex but they are a bit to flexy and if I flex them a bit the edges would break so I wana ski that I can really flex and I Lt would break but not to flexy like in the middle

Just go demo some skis until you find the ones you like dude
