Im lookin to buy a new pair of pants for this season, looking at the union armada pants. I usually just wear pajamas under my ski pants so how cold would it be?
I have virtika 3l pants. My rule of thumb when i buy outerwear is "you can always add on layers, but you cant take them off". With a pair of long johns you will be perfect on cold days.

Totally agree. I'd rather have to take layers off because I'm too hot, than have thick ass pants in May when it's 70 out.
Get the thinner ones and wear base layers.
I have shell pants. I ski in Vermont. I wear leggings, like not the super warm ones but just tight leggings and basketball shorts over them. I am good all season long
I wear shells and only on the rarest of occasions do I wear more than just gym shorts underneath. My legs also don't get that cold. If you do get cold, wear some base layers.

yeah last year i skied in shell pants with just basketball shorts underneath regularly on days ranging from probably 10 to 40 degrees and never got cold. the two key components are that snowpants trap your body heat really well and keep the wind out really well
on really cold days you won't need much more than a pair of long johns and/or sweats
I rarely wear anything more than a baselayer over the legs and it's plenty warm. Wool boxers when spring arrives. Legs are probably the most active part of the body while skiing so you rarely get cold in that area. Only time I find myself cold on my legs is when you sit on a icy chairlift.
the temperature of the pants depends on how cold it is outside. They will be the same temperature as the air
i have the virtika shells and they're still pretty warm. you'll be fine with a pair of long johns and if you already used to wear pajama pants under you'll be fine
Shells are the way to go. Super versatile if you want to layer. Nothing worse than being too hot with heavy, insulated pants.
ive never understood why anyone (who lives in a normal ish climate) would buy insulated pants. you can wear layers underneath if/when you need to....there's nothing you can do about it when it's spring skiing and you feel like youre at the beach wearing warm as hell pants

Agreed. I use to use insulated jacket / pants and switched to a shell on both probably 5 years back. Will never go back unless its a day thats like -30 out. I can stay just as warm with a couple layers and have a much lighter / less bulky jacket compared to the insulated
I only wear she'll pants, I am however under 5% bmi so I get cold really easily. I eat compression pants always and if it's under 20 I wear a mid layer on my legs. Under 0 I wear compression mid and heavy layer. I could not rock insulated onto unless they are just in butt area to keep my ass warm on lifts.

but yeah, it's all about layers
