Wait, like your kidneys? Or your child's organs? Either way, shit man, sorry about that.
Had ARF about a year ago, luckily I was able to bounce back from it after a couple of weeks of dialysis.
shit sucked
erikKi've been rockin a pigs heart since i was 11
this is so awesome
Unfortunately yeah man. All my organs be shittin the bed. What's taking yours out if you don't mind me asking?
I was born with a polycystic kidney. The right one; it was totally non functional and by age 12 it had shrivelled up to the size of a peanut. The left one was boss and grew to be double the size of a regular kidney. It hasn't impacted my life in a single way. Not a single pain, discomfort or limitation. Always felt pretty blessed because of that.
Best of luck with your organs.

I was hospitalized for an ARDS-like episode May 2014. It's not necessarily respiratory failure, but it might as well be. My lungs filled with fluid, probably from being around cigarette smoke, and it triggered an immune response and my lungs filled with fluid. I was in the ICU on a ventilator for a few days. It wasn't as bad as it could have been. It is potentially fatal but also usually affects older people. From what I know, (older) people usually have a difficult time recovering. Somehow I made a near full recovery in a relatively short amount of time. But the episode wasn't as severe as it could have been and I was 18 and otherwise healthy.
I now get between 50-70% function in my right lung (near 100% in my left) which isn't great but it hasn't stopped me from skiing and livin life yet so hell yeah to that. I haven't had anything that severe happen since and otherwise things are lookin damn good. (:
I don't really talk to my prostate much, but the last time I spoke with my doc...he wasn't pulling his weight

Any idea what caused it? Some people can be in the hospital for weeks with that.

Yeah mine was a mild case compared to what some people have. Most likely from being around cigarette smoke suddenly. I moved back into my house and my mom and sister both decided it was cool to smoke inside while I was gone.
Some people get it from internal issues like heart problems and stuff which is why my case was as mild as it was. I just needed to get out of the environment that was causing it and let my lungs chill. I was only on the vent for 48 hours and they said I didn't have much scaring which made recovery a lot smoother. I was still in the hospital for a week and a half and I had to do 3 months of PT and out-patient things though.
