Ok so I'm okay at skiing like I can do 180s, 360s, and rails. I have goals for this year like spin on/off rails, 540, but the biggest thing on the list is landing a flip. Idk what I should try first I was told backies were easier and front flips were not as scary and flats are like backies. I'm think about trying to frontflip off of a knuckle but I thought NS would know best.
Do what youre most comfortable with on a trampoline/airbag/water ramp. For me, flats are the easiest.

Only if your name starts with S and ends in imon Dumont
Huck a backflip and try it on an airbag first if possible

I don't know of anyone named Sdumont, but i do know someone named Simond Dumont. Weird how ironic that is.
OP backie is probe your best bet. I threw my first over the summer and wasn't to bad, I did get an airbag though. You gotta stay patient and huck a little harder on tramp, otherwise they come around the same. I recommend laying it out on a 15-20ft jump. Tucking is easier to get around but hard to spot, basically like a front flip
For me I think I'm just going to stop being a pussy and throw a backie first thing. Just get super comfortable with it on the tramp and like off bridges and stuff.

I'm still slightly deciding between a front and backie but honestly backflip would probably remove almost any fear

you tried
Jon_Tafferyou tried
I really did. IM just bored haha.
Two seasons ago i threw my first backflip off a jump into powder, this past season i took it to the park. I did a small kicker jump, probably five feet tall with a 3 foot gap and it was pretty perfect. Easy way to start and didn't require too much skill
backflip for sure, maybe even a rodeo. the rotation in a rodeo surprisingly feels super natural. early on in the rodeo you can look at your landing the whole time which is comforting. i guess thats the same deal with backflips but even after having done more backflips than rodeos to this day im not as comfortable throwing them as i am throwing rodeos
Dude Lincoln loop, easiest invert for sure, don't trust these guys for a second.

I think Lincoln loops are pretty easy for some people but a lot harder for others. I did my first backies and Lincolns the same day but after that I became more comfortable trying Lincolns because I wouldn't catch my tips if I under rotated.
I can barely 3 but brought around backies first try. You can do it OP. Just get it solid on tramp and try it on a water ramp or air bag first. Seriously as long as you commit and you have a good(poppy) jump to do it on you'll be golden!

Don't feel bad. I'm probably not better than you. Just send it! I bet you can do it! (:

I wouldn't say it like that, frontflips helped me overcome my fear of geting inverted.
So yea, just huck a frontflip of a quite flat pow jump(doesn't even have to be big). Remember to either do it ninja style or lean back and use the while momentum coming from the back to throw you into the flip.
Ninja flipish frontflips are really easy to learn since you can just start with some front rolls wich are basically the sam motion
MinggDon't feel bad.
I'm not haha it's pretty cool

Definitely a backflip dude! Personally think it was the easiest trick to get down, and once you get it you can start throwing rodeos/flats etc. Also good to learn in terms of air awareness and learning to slow down your spin, or speed up mid rotation for all your future tricks

I threw a few off an airbag last season but the jump was super poppy

It will still feel the same on a normal jump.

that was the first flip i tried like 4 years ago and i still can't do them right unless its off a small jump or knuckle. i always spin out of them

I think it is the easiest invert to land, but the hardest to master. So just use them as a step to get for backflips, frontflips, rodeos, etc...

None of the jumps are close to that pitch tho

Yeah, but it you will not notice a difference.

Front flips always sound better to start off with, but they're pretty useless in terms of progression and require WAY more effort to get around. Definitely don't do it off a knuckle first try that would be extremely savage but risky because you have very little air unless you were hauling ass. If i were you id spend a lot of time doing backflips/ flatspins on trampoline and deciding which comes more naturally to you. these tricks will help with a lot of other more progressive things such and corks, rodeos, even switch tricks because you get used to the jump setting some of the flip rather than fighting it as hard as you can. Think about it like this, if you're going to drop a front off a jump, you're already leaning back because of the angle of the jump. That means that not only to you have to counter that backwards lean, but since the landing is angled down, you also have to over rotate a little to land on your feet. You're basically doing 1 1/3 flips just to land. Now think about a backflip/ flatspin. Since youre already leaning back on the jump, you trick is already stared before you even leave the jump! then all you have to do is go with the flow of the kicker until you spot the landing and put the gear down. You only have to do 3/4 of a flip to put that bitch to your feet. All in all, backflips are scarier but once you get the first one out of the way, are one of the easiest and fun tricks you can do. hope this helps!
If you tell people that one of your park tricks is a 180 I wouldnt recommend flips.
Backflip. Front flips are really sketchy at first because you can't really spot your landing until you're there...

I kept on trying lincoln loops and only got underflips
Backflip for days. I learned on a janky setup in my back yard with some shorter skis on like a 3 foot jump. There are tons of videos on YouTube and Vimeo that teach basic just gotta commit!
