So for a while now I've been wanting to make my own small business.. and Just lately I came up with some shirt designs. CHICKS DO TRICKS is the name of the business. I just want to make really cool apparel for the lady shredders out there! Here is my first t shirt design. The first shirt is probs going to be a tall tee for ladies. Let me know of what you think about my first design! I just did this through custom ink, but I'm getting them done elsewhere so I can get cool tall tees. I'll be posting a few others soon! I plan on opening an online shop here in the next few months!
I love the concept.
I'm tired of feeling like the only option i have with apparel and gear is mens gear. While it's great, pushing money into men's gear doesn't help us out in the slightest. If we would start to invest more money into the girl's specific lines, more companies would be able to put out more girls apparel and hard goods. /mini rant
That being said, we are girls. We shouldn't feel like we have to wear mens stuff all the time. I get that's some people's thing and thats cool too! I don't want super cheesy ultra feminine apparel but something designed for girls would be fantastic.
Chicks do tricks sounds cheesy. I mean if you look at companies like Armada, Saga, Jiberish, Tall T, Virtika, etc. their names are unique. Chicks Do Tricks as a name would tell a lot about the brand and idk it's too literal, I suppose. I feel like the name of a brand should be creative, unique, maybe personal, with a reasoning behind it that isn't exactly obvious.
I'm not avery creative person, I think too much to come up with anything spontaneous. Forget the name right now. Go out and do the things you love like skiing, skating, surfing, and whatever else it is you like to do and let the name come naturally. You really can't rush it or force it because then you have a name that is too literal in a way.
I don't know how artistic you are, but if you can sketch something as a logo - do that. If you know how to use illustrate, even fuckin better. Put something together! ( I always preferred geometric based logos but that is just me)
You have time. Honestly, I feel you. It's easy to feel ambitious and want to throw yourself into this. It is summer however and most people aren't going to be looking for riding apparel(unless they want clearance from last year). You have a ton of time to gather this all too.
Find a unique and fitting name that isn't too literal. Design a simple, easy to remember logo.. And then use your logo on your shirts. Come up with sick graphics. Get together with other girls to make it happen too. If this is a "for girls by girls" thing, the more input from girls the better. Linking up with girls with this would be a good idea.
But HELL YEAH. Make tall t's, make tall hoodies. Do all that shit and give back to the community. Stoked on this.
sick!! you should make some more feminine fits for skating and just wearing around! I love the logo and would totally wear a normal tee and a tall tee I just think you should switch up the colors

Thank you thank you! Love the feedback. I will definitely sit on the name and stuff.. But I kind of like it a lot. I have lots of other sketches and stuff... I probably will wait until it starts getting cooler and people are starting to get excited for ski season. I just think it would be fun to have a small business(and obviously a lot of hard work). Thanks so much :)

Thanks! What colors would you like to see?

For sure! Hey, you do you. If you like it, make it work and run with it!! I personally see "Chicks Do Tricks" as more of a slogan, but who says it can't be both? The beauty of projects like this is that you can do whatever the hell you want haha. Stay rad. I hope to see more from this!!

something pretty that stands out! I really like those faded colors that they have on long sleeve tees (and hey long sleeve tees would be good for ski season!)
