We all have had days up on the mountain where we have had interesting encounters with ski patrol. Whether they yanked your lift ticket or carted your injured sorry ass off the mountain. These intrepid red backed skiing machines lie at the heart of unique love hate relationship that exists everywhere there is snow and hills. With that being said what are the best and worst encounters people have had with ski patrol??

Mingg I later learned it's the law to put your bar down in NYS. [/QUOTEI don't use the bar at pknpk and I never get yelled at.

I never put the bar down at pknpk and I never get yelled at.
ggfski42If this particular area was located on the "far left" edge of the resort, then yes she was protecting something.
skiers or lookers?
Ski Patrol at Kicking Horse throw bombs for avie control, do first aid on compound fractures, poach closed terrain and ski more hung over than the best of us. They are chill and love to ski. Once you get to a mountain with real terrain and safety concerns, ski patrol couldn't give a fuck about the little things in life.
Season after knee surgery I didn't ride park much so was just ripping around PCMR on the daily. Was heading down homerun end of the day and 180d off the cat-track coming from waterfall. I saw a patroller out of the corner of my eye but didn't think anything of it..
Long story short this patroller didn't take too kindly to park skiers not in the park, took my pass, and told me he's been trying to catch up to me for weeks. (Hah get a life goofball)! he took a picture with his iPad and gave my pass back and said "If I see you on Home Run again, I'm taking your pass away."
I ended up just switching outerwear and never had a problem.
Funny part was this past season I got a day ticket, buddy ticket, or whatever Vail calls it and they asked my name. The ticket sales person laughed at me and told me there is an note about me saying "Reckless skier, skis backwards".
Haha If the shoe fits I guess.
All in all though every patroller is a person, and we all know that classifying people in groups is a huge part of what's wrong with this world..
