Interesting topic of discussion, as so many of these political threads are effected by the media.
Does media reflect the realities of society, or does the media shape society?

Media manipulates the perception of reality.
25 year olds playing 16-year-old high-school students.
Sensationalizing shark attacks.
Using $3000 a month apartments and attributing them to preschool teacher wages.
I remember my first bowl.
It's shaping society because it's telling people what to think. People watch fox or cnn for long enough and their opinions become that of the TV.
It's fucking hopeless.
Both, but probably primarily the latter (currently). It would vary from country to country, though. Where I live media influence it seems has far less of a presence than it does in the US

Explain me a thing.
The media outlets are only as successful as we make them. With out an audience of viewers who continue to watch it would die, in both an economical and psychological sense.
But what if the media influences us to continue to watch the media? And we really aren't in control

Was just going to bring that up. It's quite true and we don't realize the ways that it influences us.
The world is a scary place
