stinky_peteSo why didn't you trust the skis enough to go fast? and overall did you like RES or not
I really liked the RES and had no problem trusting it in most conditions, just not on hardpack. It doesn't feel like a super tail rockered ski where you slide out the tails and throw the skis sideways to control speed, for me I noticed I was skiing more in the fall line because I had the confidence to make a controlled turn when needed instead of the skid for life. For ME it allowed for confident, high speed skiing vs. a more centered mounted, heavily tail rockered ski.
The idea that reverse sidecut from the tip through boot center would produce a ride like this makes sense imo. The skis don't hook up with just an ankle roll because there isn't any sidecut to catch. You have to steer the skis for a desired turn radius, but nowhere near the effort that similar skis with a large radius require. Coming from a pair of EHP's this was refreshing.
The only issue is they require you to ski forward. Because of the reverse sidecut, there is not much effective edge through the tip and I did not trust being committed to driving the front of the ski at high speeds on hard steeps. Maybe I need more time to figure them out, but that would be something I would consider if these are to be a OSQ.
