FS: Nikon 80-200 2.8 AF-S

I am selling a used Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 AF-S. The lens is one of the sharpest telephoto lenses Nikon has ever made and is in great shape. Works just like it did on day 1 and all functions operate as they should. Comes with collar and lens hood. Always had a filter on this lens and front and rear lens elements are scratch free and there is no hazing and no internal dust issues. Zoom and focus rings are silky smooth. Works with teleconverters and has very quick autofocus. Only wear is cosmetic on lens barrel and lens hood. Awesome lens for any photographer. Can provide more photos for serious inquiries as well as meet up locally. Looking for $735 shipped in the US. PayPal only

Thread title is deceiving!

That said, the 80-200, which this one looks to be, is optically better than the early 70-200 VR's IMO (having owned both, I must admit this)

I used to have this lens. It's unreal. Sacrificing the 10mm for added sharpness and overall quality is worth it. To any potential buyers sitting on the fence about this lens, maybe it's too old for your taste, maybe you want VR, whatever it is, BUY THIS LENS. I truly wish i still had it, tbh.

Yeah, I mean, the 70-200 vr2 is probably better optically, and is sharper in almost every way but it also suffers from focal compression when focused on close subjects (so 200 acts more like 160ish or something)

Personally, the 80-200 is the way to go, cost-wise, and optics wise, because even with closer subjects, it acts as it should due to the simpler optical formula. (and, VR is sorta overrated in today's world where 3200 iso is the new 200 iso.
