which sport gets credit for the instagram slam?

My guess would be skateboarding since they always seem to be on the cutting edge of "xtreme spots" trends.

I remember berrics doing the text yo self trick request thing since way back, so thats probably what started it. now its gram yo selfie, which is pretty much the same thing as an instagram slam.
