So I'm really new to skiing and had no idea what forward pressure was and I still don't really know what it is. All I know is that the white thing on heel piece of my Rossi fks should be flush with the black dashes near the white thing, but mine are actually a few millimeters before the black dashes. I got them mounted by a local shop and they set the dins on my toe and heel according to my weight and height. I do know how to change my forward pressure so that's not the problem. The problem is that I don't know if forward pressure has anything to do with height and weight like dins do, I also don't know if forward pressure is set according to boot size, mine is 29.5, or if the white thing is supposed to be flush the black dashes no matter what. So far i feel like my fks have released when they should but I have pre released which I later found out was due to the fact that one of my toe piece dins got lowered. There also have been other times where I've felt I've popped out when I really shouldn't have, like when I landed a trick my ski would sometimes just pop off. I really don't want to tear an acl though so I guess sometimes releasing more easily could be better but I also don't want to release when I don't need too so could someone just give me some insite on all these questions I have?
Don't touch the forward pressure. Your shop most likely set them up right. The white indicator and dashes are very innacurate, they don't indicate proper forward pressure.
If you're popping out too often, you can change the DINs yourself, go up by one. But only if it's really happening too often.
Even as a "3+" skier profile, a shop would not mount my bindings at the DIN I need for how I ski. shops set them up based on general charts.
sounds like your releasing due to low dins, not improper forward pressure. common misconception to refer to the white tab for fine tuning of the FP. when they are properly set, often times the tab wont even be flush with the marks.im gonna take a chance and say they are most likely set right, but your dins are slighlty low. what din setting are you currently on, and whats your weight and skiing type
wouldnt blame it on the shoulder pressure, your shop most likely set them upright as they need to go through lots of training every year. but din is a different story. they dont really have a din chart for freestyle skiers and my din chart for rossignol (im a ski technician at my hills rental shop) is more of a downhill / recreational ski setting. meaning they play it on the safe side a lot. for example if i guy walks in and hes 6'5 and 130 pounds (unrealistic i know) i would have to set the din for a 130 pound man and not take into account the fact that hes 6'5! anyways yes your shop probably set the dins lower i for example am 5'10 and 170 pound freestyle skier. i would say im intermediate at park and they set my dins to a 6 i later readjusted them to 8 and dont have any problems. so yes you can adjust your dins higher but for gods sake dont go overboard i would only go up .5 din every time. Pre releasing is a pain but dont over correct by setting your din to 18 be careful!
