prob need a new deck if you're still rocking stock radio ($50 - $300)
then you need subwoofers with a ported box. ($200-$500)
then you need amplifier to power subwoofers ($100-$1000)
then you need wiring kit for electrical connections ($20 - $60)
then you need to install (DIY $0 - Professional $100)
remember you get what you pay for, go to a car audio shop and not walmart
It all depends on what you want...
1. How much $$$ do you have to spend?
2. How nice of a system do you want?
3. The "faceplate" or head unit is a vital component to any car audio system.
4. You have two options on a box. (depends on the car) you can purchase a stock box, or you can have a custom box made. (I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. So I have a custom box, under the fold down seats in the back of the cab.)
Personally I support Rockford Fosgate (Link) I currently have two 10 inch P1's. It's a great sounds, nothing too crazy or overpowering.

Start here, also check out their inventory. They will hook you up with all the right wiring and adapters too.
Buy alpine type R's. Best bang for your buck speakers. They hit SO fucking hard

Subs hurt my ears. I'm a pussy. Had to have surgery because my eardrums exploded on a plane.
buy alpine type R's they are really good and as far as installation don't bother fucking around with it for a day just take it in and get it done. mt biggest regret with mine was wasting so much time doing it myself.

The subs and box are a LOT cheaper if you get them on Amazon. Unless you're rich DO NOT buy your subs at an audio shop.. I buy my amps at Pawn America and I've had good experiences so far lol
If you want a system that bumps pretty hard for little money, ($48/each) these will work. I had two of them in a ported box:
If you want a system that bumps really hard and are willing to spend a lil more money. ($80/each) I have two of these in a ported box at the moment and I am extremely satisfied:
This amp is a little spendy imo. ($132) but man it puts out power.. (1600 watts) This would be a good amp to get for either of the subs mentioned above^^^:
Here's a cheap, decent quality box. ($57) I had this box for my first set of 12's, and when I sold them I got the same box again because it works well for a cheap price:

Don't think I'm a Pioneer fanboy. They just put out quality products for the best deal. I would say don't get the Alpine type R.. Unless you have a lot of money. You probably wouldn't tell a difference between them and the ones I have.
I'm pretty into audio and car audio stuff so if you have any questions it wouldn't hurt to see if I know
Dont get pioneers please. You can get soooo much more for your money.
Alpine, rockferd fosgate, boss, are all fantastic speakers. Pioneers are on the lower end of the spectrum imho.
I wouldnt 'cheap' out on anything for audio. Bad subwoofers can sound worse than a stock system, buy if you spend the right amount of money on some quality woofers and amp itll change the listening experience.

Nooo lololol. Alpine and Rockford Fosgate are honestly my two favorite brands of subs! But they are not the most for your money..
A 600 watt RMS dual voice coil Rockford Fosgate 12 inch sub is $130. A Pioneer sub with the same specs is $80. Brand doesn't matter. It's more about power handling.
But if OP has money to blow, he can afford the ones you're talking about. But if he's like me and doesn't have a ton of money he'd be better off with the cheap ones that are just as nice

Granted my only experience with pioneer are walmart subs haha.
You can definitely find deals. Crutchfield and amazon have awesome deals sometimes

For sure, any of those brands will work. But you're right, the lower end Pioneer isn't that great
my old car had 2 6x8s from walmart and a custom box with two 10 inch subs. should be plenty and doesnt make you look and sounds like a doucher too much. That EDM flow in my car would melt brains
Just keep in mind that a sub is one part of your overall stereo system. Its cool to have a shit ton of bass but if the rest of your speakers are not good its going to be way out of balance and still sound bad.

Nah I got the factory speakers cuz I just got the car not to long ago but them shits kinda bump but it's not enough
A box can make or break your sub as far as sound output and SQ. Make sure your port size, tuning, and internal space if the box match the reccommended specs. Quality power cables if youre planning in running over 750 watts.

Depends on the car. My car has good stock speakers
I have a rockford fosgate p300-12 and it works great. It costs about 200 plus cost of wires and is pretty easy to install.
