I've been seeing a lot of park edits with bros not wearing helmets. What's up with that? Helmets save lives, who knows when you'll catch and edge and bang your head or slide out on a rail. Just with all the head injuries and death in the sport in recent years you think everyone would be rocking helmets inside the park by now.
Meh it's personal preference, I always wear one except on the warmest of days but if other people don't want to it's none of my business.
jd_1260Fair enough is it not mandatory in some parks?
None of the parks in Colorado, that ive ridden, require helmets
My dad got a head injury when i was 4 and ever since has never been the same so i always where one no matter what.
not when hitting a small rail setup, but at the hill, yes.
I get a lot of hate, but I only wear a helmet like 50% of the time. I am completely aware of the risks and I've seen some nasty head injuries. No excuses...I'm not trying to be "badass".
I wear one when I'm at the hill. the only time I don't wear one is when I'm seshing my backyard rail.
Helmets are for little girls learning to skis not for parkillas
We'll continue to increasingly not wear helmets until a big name in the sport gets turned into a vegetable off a closeout over stairs. Then we'll wear one, until the sport starts to forget... Cycle continues.
I was surprised to see Andy Parry not wearing a helmet at TAFT
for 50$ to save your head its worth it for me but to each his/her own.
How is this a conversation? The only solace to be found is a head which is too stupid to protect itself may cause itself to be taken out of the reproductive pool. And that's some cynical shit. Wear helmets.
To all who say helmets look stupid I say "Id rather look stupid than be stupid."
However when wearing a helmet make sure to hit the snow with the helmet and not your face.
At this point helmets are just an accepted part of the look of a skier and nobody is gonna judge you for wearing one. It isn't like skateboarding where you look like a 12 year old if you wear one. But if you don't wanna wear a helmet that is your personal preference and it is up to you at the end of the day.

In the spring when temps are 40+ it can be uncomfortable
