Has anyone has experience about leaving there hometown during highschool? Alone that is. I'm really ready to live another place and try to ski somewhere else. My family is happy where we live, so I'm not going to make them deal with moving. I also unfortunely don't know anyone who I would be down to let me live In their house all year long. Also windell's academy is out of the picture for the obvious reason ($). I'll most likely stay here until I graduate then leave but, any suggestions or ideas that could help? I'm sure lots of other NS'ers have had the same issue.
I love you buddy but, where are you gonna go and how? if moving out was an option for me id have done it a long time ago, but im not tanner hall
if you're happy with your family situation, regardless of skiing, stay where you are and cherish the last couple years with your family. at the very least, you have free clothes, food, and a roof over your head if you hate it that much
you sound spoiled as fuck if youre even considering "pressuring your parents into moving..." Youre in highschool. Why do you feel the need to move and live on your own. You literally probably arnt even a quarter of the way through your life yet. Just chill out and live like every other high schooler. There is no reason to force yourself into the real world so soon...
You sound like every 5 year old that's ever gotten mad at their parents. Bettee go throw on your house coat and pack your bags. You'll be back in 20 minutes. There are people in the world that don't even have a home and you just wanna leave? You must be a pretty spoiled 15 year old. Check your privilege.
Dude you're in highschool. You have a little time to wait. Although I can't help but be sympathetic as I was in the same position. I hated highschool, highschool hated me.
NohaI'll most likely stay here until I graduate then leave but, any suggestions or ideas that could help?
get an education in something you're good at
Considering you cannot even rent a hotel room at 17, how the hell do you intend to secure a rental? Also, the fact that you are even able to consider such a decision, financially, is somewhat disturbing. And yes, that you actually said "pressure my parents into moving" speaks to your insane level of entitlement. It's clear your parents never spanked you. They should start now.
Stay at home dude. Why would you leave? You can get so much free stuff especially in high school. Why would you want to spend more money? Plus, family is pretty important so I don't quite see why you would want to leave at such a young age. Whatever though, your choice.
Fuck the stupid responses on this thread.
You want to live alone so you should and your parents can rent you out an apartment in Salt Lake City or Denver and you'll go to high school and live on your own with no car and take the bus to ski on the weekends etc etc. Its your life.
My serious suggestion would be to build a tree house or something in your back yard that you could escape to to get away and have some personal space. GL.

What the fuck...
you could work a few jobs and live in utah, its not to expensive out here
Well, you could look into graduating high school early and then moving out. My boyfriend did that - graduated hs early, moved to Salt Lake City by the time he was 17, had some time to chill/ski here and then started college at the University of Utah. (For the record he didn't rely on his parents to pay for him.) He probably had it a little easier than some though because he already knew people out here, im sure that helps mentally as well as with practical stuff like when trying to secure a house and things like that. If this is actually something you think you'd want to do then show some initiative and start being proactive. Go talk to your guidance counselor, get a job and save every penny you make, and figure out where you want to move/go to college.
But you have to graduate. Don't just drop out and leave because that will work out very poorly.
Honestly though 2 more years isn't even that long and you should probably just stick it out at home. I really think the above scenario ^ is probably too much freedom for most 17 year olds to handle. Oh god I sound so old but...yeah.
I grew up in the suburbs of chicago dreaming about skiing every single day of highschool wanting to get the fuck out. I feel you homie just keep your eye on the prize and finish your time in that shitty place and youll find the ski life.
you should definitely run away and follow the Stand By Me trail
you might have to sell your body to truck drivers to get by, but hey, it beats homework and chores
i moved into a boarding school today. yeah it costs a lot (60k/year) but it's cool.
Dude your a ducking sofemore if your parents after even dumb enough to consider this then go ahead and see how it works out
jlens05Dude your a ducking sofemore if your parents after even dumb enough to consider this then go ahead and see how it works out
You obviously need as much time in school as you can get
as much as people can advise you on what to do, it is after all your life. If you know what you are going to do and you aren't a complete fool, then yes go ahead. I know people who would thrive off of living by themselves (I swear one of them is going to be president someday), but then again, they have an elevated understanding of politics, living conditions, public appearance, etc than most 17 year olds. These kids are the future of the nation.
As much as you think you might know, you probably don't know shit. If I am wrong, then fucking send it and free yourself from parental constraints. Before you do that though, take a second, be logical, and look at the pros and cons of living at home, then look at the pros and cons of living alone (Hint: living alone is hard as fuck).
What you really need to think about is how you can realistically support yourself after moving. THe first thing you do if you are serious about moving is to set yourself with a job that will pay enough (minimum wage is not even close to enough), save all the money you can now, and get try to cut costs down the road by taking care of all the expensive things now. Try to go into this prepared (knowing how to clean your clothes, cook, clean, etc). If you have the right personality, you could hook yourself up in a ski shop. Cover the most expensive part of your budget right there. Maybe get a night job at a restaraunt to cut food costs. all that good stuff. there are plenty of other things to consider, but if you are smart enough to live on your own, then you don't need me to tell you.
This all really comes down to how you can take advantage of what you have now and incorporate it into what you will have when alone. There are 2 things I can garantee.
1. you aren't prepared for what you are considering
2.nothing can prepare you for the real world other than living in it
But again, take everything everyone has said in this thread with a grain of salt, because it is after all your life. Do what you think you should do.
Don't let people sway your decision (not saying ignore the people who have experience with this or have smart comments though). If I were in your position, then I would just ride it out. free stuff is harder to come by than you might think once you get older.
Source: previous experience and considered similar decision to peace the fuck out
You should try and move as far away as possible and then claim homelessness and try and get yourself some subsidized government housing.
There is also a thread on here about sleeper tricked out ski vans. You could look into buying one of those and living out of that. If you can't drive I'd look for a good hidden parking spot first.

Do you not see the glaringly obvious contradiction between the two statements you made?
OP, do you plan on working while attending highschool? Because you'll have to be working 40 hour weeks just to pay for rent. The real world hasn't hit you yet and once it does you're gonna realize how much your parent's help out, even though it might not seem it right now.
Look at how much it costs to rent a place for a month, how much it will cost to feed yourself for a month, and then don't move out.
Unless you're going to get a job, or have a place with free rent/ food lined up good luck. The only people I really know that do anything like this is people with family other places.
That said, I think you should run away with bags of food and live in the woods. It would be fun to take bets on how long you make it before heading home, freezing, or getting eaten by a bear.
I'm curious to know what your plan is though? You're talking about pressuring your parents into letting you leave. What if they say "go for it bro" What's your move?
From a social services perspective.
We often provide support for kids who want to move out on their own IF they are over 16 and their home environment is not healthy (ie - parents are abusive, neglectful, addicts, etc).
If you want to move out because you want to live somewhere closer to good skiing, we will tell you to gtfo and appreciate what you have.

So your friends gonna be president eh?
Also if you're 17/18 and haven't figured out how to work a washing machine you're going to encounter some speed bumps in life.
OP just needs to watch some crime dramas and put together a few heists and then live like a king for the rest of his life.
Do it OP.

I'm not the only one who thinks he's gona be president, especially since this kid has made thousands of dollars in the stock market, has the maturity of a 40 year old, drinks scotch for the taste, knows more about politics than anybody i have ever met, and is a fucking genius. He will run this country.
Hey some people don't, it is what it is though

you sound like you have a crush on this dude. Winning thousands in the stock market has nothing to do with being a good president. It might just be you being a retard, I don't think your friends all that bright but keep sucking his cock and maybe some day he'll let you pee in his butt
Don't fuck your future by dropping outta high school
jlens05Dude your a ducking sofemore if your parents after even dumb enough to consider this then go ahead and see how it works out
you need to be called stupid one more time.
Stupid
WHAT! haha. pressure your parents to move? unless your parents are the biggest push overs in the world that will NEVER happen. You think because their bratty son is whining about wanting to live in SLC they are going to completely uproot their lives and move? Moving is a lot more work than you think dude.

Being stoked for my friend isnt sucking his dick... Stop trying to pick a fight on ns. You don't accomplish anything by trying to shit on me, but if you feel entitled, then go for it.

You're confusing maturity with being pretentious.

@.Hugo., its just to give you an idea of what the kid is like, not saying its a qualification
@SupremeDeity, you seem desperate about trying to prove me wrong and I'm not sure why. If you have ever met this kid, you would most likely agree, or you wouldn't just to prove me wrong.
My friend smokes weed and he's in high school. Barack Obama smoked weed in high school. Therefore my friend is going to be president too. Hell yeah newschoolers taking over the U.S.
