I'm an experienced skier and today was one of my worst days on the slopes in my life. Woke up late, snow was tracked out, Yardsaled the first run of the day, followed by heckling and snowboarders talking shit from the chair. Lost all confidence, just couldn't stay on my skis. Lots of douchebags from Chicago skiing recklessly. What was your worst day like? Confidence problems?
my worst was my last day before i had to get surgery that would put me out for 6 months. Really depressing. only 5.25 months left
The day where you get injured is usually the worst
destroyed my thumb 2nd run of opening day and couldn't wear a mitten for a while
early bird gets the worm. not our fault you don't wanna wake up early.
but honestly its hard for me to hate a day of skiing. obviously some days could have been way better, but skiing is skiing, and I think its best not to get soo worked up over it. I can just see people like shane laughing at all these people that get soo fired up when they get snaked in the liftline or some shit. its just skiing, go out and have fun. conditions/crowds shouldn't deter away any amount of joy, I think.
Went skiing and brought the wrong skis. 2 runs in they kept ejecting when i flexed them so I tightened them up in the shop. Next run all is well until I butter with my newly tightened skis and my ski edge shreds through my ski pants and opens up a solid half inch deep gash in my shin. Got 6 stitches and missed out on one of the nicest days of the year.
Still remember when I was super young. I think I was like 9 or something my pair of rental boots broke. A piece of plastic was poking my heal in the back. So I had to drive back to Jindabyne to get new boots and missed half a day skiing. Pretty much cried the whole time. Partially due to not skiing and partially due to pain.
1st day I went this year was awful. I met a fellow NSer which was cool but then I literally didn't land a single trick all day.
i had one really shitty day last year, guess the stars just didnt align. anyhow it was just shitty, i pulled something possibly in my hip stretching that morning, i wore the wrong lens, i fell, so like 3rd run i just called it and went home. perks to skiing 120+days
I was at loon, a long while ago now, and i shit my pants and then sat on the chairlift.
Either the time I broke my back and shit myself from nerve damage upon impact
Or
The time I dislocated a shoulder at a ski contest in Quebec refused the ambulance. Drove myself to the hospital a couple hours away, but stopped on the way to get some pizza in a buttfuck nowhere separatist town where they wouldn't serve me pizza that I tried to order while my arm was twisted behind my back and hanging limply only to walk across the street to another pub to order a club sandwich since I knew that there was going to be a few hour wait at the ER and I hadn't aten all day. Only to arrive at the ER meanwhile it's been several hours since I dislocated my shoulder, and another couple hours before the put me through X-rays to make sure I didn't break my arm or clavicle meanwhile the muscle guarding locked my shoulder out of joint only to be drugged up on ketamine by the doctor who then with the assistance of two orderlies had one hell of a time reefing my shoulder back into joint. I was so drugged up I couldn't even feel them shatter my clavicle which we then discovered the next day was broken during the reset combustion fracture at the insertion point of the sternoclavicluar joint. Having refused ambulance service in the name of saving a few hundred dollars was an extremely dumb move and the extreme pain and isolation of driving myself to the hospital was damn near madding.
It's really hard to say which was worst. I'm lucky to have survived the broken back and be able to walk, but the shoulder now pops in and out worse than a fiddlers elbow.
Opening day last year. It was fucking cold, tore my ACL, got a ride down with a friend and got stuck a mile from my house for about 3 hours though
Skied the rest of the year with no ACL, unknown to me
There are those days when I break bones
There was that day when my binding ripped out first run
There were those days where my friends bitch and complain all day and kill my vibes
All these make for a pretty shitty day
Probably today. Last couple days I've been progressing in the park a lot and today I apparently forgot how to slide a rail without yardsaleing. Did not land a single thing. Better luck tomorrow hopefully?
Blue Mountain, Ontario is charging $72+tax/day&night for this.
Its safe to say this is a total ripoff. It took me a while before that feeling of being robbed went away, after that i had a good time but the first couple runs were terrible.
Honestly guys, the worst day on the mountain still better then the best day in an office or at school. The worst day of skiing ive ever had was my last two seasons i spent in halifax without my skis.
Deezy^that photo is from today.
what lift is that? had a pass to blue, got 4-5 days in before I hit eject and moved to vancouver for the season
Today, got a fucking concussion from not wearing my helmet because I forgot it at home
Wake up, see fresh snow, get excited, get your powder skis out, get to the slope. And it's raining.
2 days ago was pretty bad but I don't remember my worst, at around 12 o'clock I pre ejected one of my skis on a 540 and I landed on my ski with my thigh, the jump was pretty big and I felt like I got the worst Charlie horse Of my life for the the rest of the day and the day after. And I didn't want to Be a dick to my friend and go in the lodge because he brought me up and insisted on going in with me if I went in
Pow day, skis were too short and too narrow, and unwaxed. My goggles sucked at the time so I couldn't see anything. I tomahawked all day...

sounds like my local hill
unless you or a friend gets hurt, its never a bad day
Today was pretty awful to be honest. I forgot my socks first off so my feet were cold af. Then, my top buckle on my left boot exploded in the middle of a run. Then, my boot wobbling around fucked me up when approaching a rail, fucking up my pop and making me hipcheck it and in an area that already had a shit bruise. Being in pain for the rest of the day and having to shred groomers in pain with a fucked boot was lame.

The south chair. It looks the worst.

I havent skied louis, but from the edits ive seen, its better than blue... everywhere around here is better than blue. I skied Craigleath today and they had much better coverage...
That all doesnt matter tho because we got dumped on this afternoon. Also, its currently -11 so half of Georgian Bay will be blown onto the hills in the next couple days.
Opening day 6 years ago first run of the season I hucked a cliff and landed in tree and broke my femur.... was out for the rest of the season
I have blown my knee and broken a couple bones skiing but the worst day was when a friend broke his leg in the backcountry. I dont know about you guys but it is so much harder to watch a friend in pain than it is to be in pain yourself. Trying to carry him to a spot for a helivac and frantically digging a landing zone all while he was in agony. Packing his stuff out and getting back to the car in the dark I was so tired and frustrated when I got back home it was really shitty. Definitely a day I could have gone without.
stucciThe day where you get injured is usually the worst
Yep
snowboarder snaked me and ran over my skis causing me to fall sideways and tear the muscles in both my legs. -.- spent christmas break on netflix and not skiing. fml
There are some days where I am just not feeling it. And to avoid injury I normally call it a day early and go home and do nothing.
is previous FridayProbably the Friday previous to this one. Did a few 270s onto a rail, they were going well, one of my last runs of the day (hadnt called it), did the 2 on, got caught in the snow because the lip was shot and it was a low rail, fell directly on my shoulder. Re-broke my clavicle that had just healed totally like a week prior to this. So now im just bumming it for a month till the upper portion re-heals again. missed most of my winter break being able to ski though just because the pain has been so bad i couldnt get out of bed.
One time I woke up too early so I proceeded to jack off. The rest of the day I couldnt land any tricks. Not that bad tho, i still busted a nut and got to go skiing
i took a 9 to the dace one day
classic summer skiing….
