Roll call anyone?
I am looking to go in Feb.
Question is about grabbing 420 - how easy do you think it is? I know it's not CO but I am thinking the mountain vibe should make it easy.
Buds are way easy to come by out here! Where are you staying when you come out?
And this sunday and monday are gonna be awesome! Hopefully it stays cold so we can enjoy walk on trams a few more times before the lifts are packed with the vacationors!!
Dear Jhole! im moving out end of May/beginning of June and looking for a place to rent! I know it's hard to find summer stuff so why not start now? I honestly would be perfectly fine and actually prefer an air mattress in a living room and a Cubby in the corner. might be adopting a dog in a few weeks so that would be the other thing (but he's 2 and well behaved)! Let me know and I'll even be stoked to shred with you guys when im there in march! Someone be my BC tour guide :)

I know, so bummed I'm working today AND Monday. Hopefully it won't be too packed Tuesday and there will still be some snow leftover

If lodging is anything like it was last summer (which it will be), you need to lock up a place ASAP! Especially if you plan on bringing a dog out with you. I would be looking very frequently on
Idk why the link is so long and fucked right now, but that takes you what is the craigslist of JH. Plenty of room shares and sub leases avail. Since you are coming out late, you may have to sweeten the deal a bit to have the house hold your spot.
Great to see another Midwesterner coming out!
Going to be in Jackson next week (4-10). Been religiously checking the weather and it had been calling for snow everyday that week, sizable amounts too, until today and now it says nothing. Anyone who actually lives out there have any idea of what you think may be in store next week?

If it's anything like the big cold front we're about to get, it'll be cold and clear for a bit. No idea how far south that's going to stretch though.
thatparkskiierHow is spring skiing in jackson hole?
Alright. Planning my first trip to Jackson for early February with a buddy of mine. We are coming from the MidWest fyi. Need some help here:
My buddy is renting: Demo rentals vs. High Performance? Which is better?
We are there 3 days. We are torn on what to do. Part of me thinks we will need all 3 days to ski the mountain. My buddy (And the other part of me) wants to go snowmobiling for one day. What do you guys recommend, and if its snowmobiling, who is a good company?
Also, will they let you bring your skis? Part of me wants to snowmobile and fine some mellow lines in the backcountry (although, I dont have any avy gear, so this may be out of the question).
Just trying to get the most out of three full days there. Wish we had more time.
+k for help.

Sooooo excited for this, 21" this morning and it just keeps coming!
Gondola just closed for the day, pretty sure the whole place is just shut down right now
I got 2nd gondi and 2nd to last gondi today, soooo creamy! Free refills all day esp after the on and off shutdowns!
I'm driving up from CO with some friends on the 4th of Feb and am beyond stoked!
We have a couple locals up there that we'll be skiing with to show some sick spots. What do you all recommend for tickets? We'll be doing 3 straight days (I hope my legs can). As far as I'm seeing, the cheapest is to buy online ahead of time? Any recommendations?
I have a 1 day voucher ill sell for $90 cash. Just gotta let me know ahead of time so I can get it validated.
And yea, im down to take some runs, hit some shacks, crush some beers.
Comin Wednesday thru Sunday. Never been to Jackson before. What are the things you can't miss on and off the mountain?

I found a place for $425 with the other Erika. And TGR intern / whatever other job I can find
Shooting up there from PC this Sunday and Monday. Conditions look good. Probably JH Sunday, GT Monday.
I like powder, beer and cliffs
Just got the whole day off tomorrow. Hoping winter gets it's shit together.
Looking for someone to rent/borrow a beacon from the week of march 14!

Well given what the rest of the US is dealing with, it will hopefully be pretty good.
But to answer you question, it can snow 2 feet, then be 50 at the base the next day. Or it can be 15 degrees and dry as hell. This winter has been crazy everywhere and JH is no different. Even slush snow is a lot of fun when you have killer terrain!
JH was nice the day I went.
Stayed in bounds with some friends. Good mountain. One of the best Ive been too. Skied most in North America so stoked to get that one off the list. Jumped into Corbits with all the other out of towners as well. What a fuck show at the top of that.

When I was there last week, we witnessed a dude blow up on the second drop-in turn and tumble/slide down literally the whole thing from below. Was one of the worst things I've witnessed - turns out he broke his leg and some other things.
On a brighter note, that natural booter right below corbets that you bomb through the mogul field is fun as hell.

Yupp. Dude that dropped in before me had rental skis on and just blew up.
And yeah, I forget the name of that hit, the dudes I skied with where local guys and had a name for it. But that was fun.

thanks for the heads up. just curious, when does corbetts usually open up? definitely want to hit that when i go.
japanada^ Been open for a while now.
got it. it said on their site for a few consecutive days that it wasnt so i was just curious.

Yea its a day to day thing. They will close it if its rock solid at the drop in. Usually once you make the turn it softens up tho. Worth the poach tho if you havnt had the chance to hit it on your last day. What are they gonna do, take your ticket?

yea no i feel that. corbet's has definitely been on my bucket list for quite some time now and im coming out the second week in march. I figured they would close it if they were worried about the cornice breaking off or avy danger, not just for hard snow.
If im out there and the last day its not open, ill definitely be poaching it.
I will be there 4th week in March. My ski buddy had to go and break his wrist (snowboarding of course). Better to stay at the hostel or down in city of Jackson?

Ze Hostel is the way to go if you're looking for cheap on mtn lodging that lets let ski your ass of!
really random question but..
im going out with the ski club of my school next week. our flight arrives a couple hours before they do so we wont be able to check in. we're staying at cowboy village and need a near by bar. does anyone know a fake Id friendly bar around the area?

Do you look really young? Ive watched many IDs get snagged at the Cowboy and The Local. Id suggest Pinky Gs or The Tavern.

Hey Jackson-ers!
I'm road tripping up with some friends for a big mtn shred trip and we're wondering.. bluntly.. Anyone have space for some chicks to crash on their floor March 13-16?
We will supply beer (or whatever libation you prefer) and food! And we have sleeping bags/pads so I'm serious by just needing floor space. Please let me know! Also probably hitting up the Pink Garter Saturday night for Talib Kweli show
update for anyone coming soon...
pretty obvious statement if you're looking at the weather, but the snow at JHMR is real shitty right now. It freezes over at night so bring your ice skates for the morning, and then skinny skis for the afternoon because its getting thick real quick. far (skiers left) of the mountain wasnt bad until about 1ish, then it got soupy. I havent hiked the headwall, but it looks like the snow is a little better up there. I heard its still really bad, but anything will be better than the down low stuff. and then obviously corbets is closed. its pretty raw right now and rocks are showing.
brought my only my jeffreys. hooray for me being a dumbass. nothing worse than heavy snow with even heavier skis.

I mean it's obvious by the forecast that its not good for snow, but that being said, I had one of my favorite days riding ever on Saturday in 50 degree weather and mashed potato snow.
Coverage everywhere is getting bad, but that just means you need to watch out for obstacles if you go off the groomers. Groomers in the morning when its still bad, then party park laps all afternoon in the soft snow!
I've been riding my on3p jessie 100's around and it's been a blast.
Went up headwall recently as well, went down skiers left of casper bowl one day, snow was soft and a bit chunky in spots, but still super fun. Next day went down skier right which was in the shade, was super hard and horrible. Word of advice: stay in the sun
Two Canadians in town for the week, hoping to meet some friendly locals for some spring turns either inbounds or in the side country. Après beers on us
