I started doing boxes and rails last year and i really want to start making 180 and 360 on them... I really need help because i dont know how to do these things
The fact that you said on your profile you can do a frontside 450 out determines this is a lie.
or something you did was false.
bump, someone help him.
also what i say is always keep your eye near the end of the rail and keep your leading arm beside your waist if you need any help go to this cult they will help also there will probably be something already on there
Sorry for the false information on my profile... its was an error. i was thinking that the question was : Which tricks are the best in general...and for the link that Huck has posted, its written : file not found :/
Bro just letting you know, before you post please atleast look down the first page of the ski gabber forum page. I literally made a post about this like an hour ago and people are still commenting on it. You could've just looked at that.

My bad. You probably have to go to the main page and join the cult. https://www.newschoolers.com/cultforum/1690/Trick-Tip-Forum Same link posted by someone above. Pretty sure that's how it works. It has been awhile since I joined a cult with auto accept. Is that right? A little help here.
Don't eat shit.
But in all seriousness look for the end and commit.
why do people are insulting and getting mad like this...im new on this site and i dont really know how it works...

#1 thing for me was making sure I jump and turn in the air into the rail, if you start your turn before the lip, you'll slide off the other side of the rail

okok perfect !! thank you very much man !! ill try that
brett_fishermanjust hop on and slide to the end
its easy to say, but not to do
Make sure to turn completely sideways so you don't just slide off mid way through the rail. I figured out that if I try to get the rail under my toes I usually didn't eat shit. But overall just repetition and have fun with it.

Try and keep your body perpendicular and keep your weight centered to slightly forward downhill.

because NS has degraded into an adolescent shit show... in all seriousness though, I don't really understand what tricks you're talking about, but the one piece of advice that helped my by far the most is to look at (I mean really focus on) the very end of the rail. sounds cliche, but honestly I think its one of the few pieces of advice that worked consistently for me. what someone else mentioned about not turning on the lip before you pop is a great piece of advice too... if you're falling off to one side in particular, maybe even try adjusting the angle at which you approach the rail to compensate
First lean really far back, then try leaning really far forward. After eating shit a few times you should try centering your weight to match the angle of the rail/box.

Thanks a lot my friend !! I took notes
Gotta get those railz down on tramp before bringing them to snow
I'm assuming that you're new to park; it helps to have your skis center mounted. If you don't know what that is ask a local guy at a shop.

Get low in an athletic position with feet shoulder-width apart and knees bent, and once you get on the rail stare at the end of it if you're having trouble with like sliding off before the rail ends
EtnbrThanks a lot my friend !! I took notes
Do pay attention to Mr. Traylor when he drops knowledge. He is sick, knows his shit, and his edits are filthy.
i learned how to do rails by doing a shifty on them. its helps you get your balance down and reduces your chances of your skis slipping from beneath you. once you master doing a shifty, try 90 on switch 90 off. doing it switch off helps you with your rotation on the rail.

1keep skis flat on rail
2look at end of rail
Man, trust your self! You can do that in time! Just relax, search and do it safely! Don't pressure your self.

Keep your skis as close together as possible and try to land on your edges leaning backwards.
Tip: If you want to make it a little easier, just don't wax your skis for like 6 years and make sure your edges are sharper than the trident of poseidon.

I am currently learning rails as I just switched from skiing to snowboarding. The really key thing is getting a good amount of speed, clearing the rail before trying to get onto it, and body position on the rail. I just started stomping most of my rail tricks recently due to all these tips and tricks I've found and discovered.
The big key I found was concentrating on getting my skis up and over the rail, because if you are worried about balancing on the rail and riding the rail and spinning out of the rail and all that fancy stuff, then you will never actually get on the rail.
When I am progressing on a rail I like to come at it from the side very very very slow and imagine myself stepping one ski at a time up and onto the rail. I stop right at the rail and judge how I will pop and where I want to land on the rail. Then I hike back up a few meters, and imagine step by step my approach, my pop, my contact with the rail, my trick on the rail, and my exit (mental focus is key). Getting the planning down mentally allows you to attack the feature with 100% certainty.
Then I approach with minimal carving or speed checking, hitting a straight line allows you to stay focused on the rail, then when I get to the lip of the kicker I look at where I plan on landing on the rail, do NOT look at the beginning of the rail, looking where you want to go is a mental strategy that tricks your body into following the head. If you look at the beginning of a rail or the gap you have to clear to get there then you will most definitely slip out when you make contact with the rail or even worse, catch a tip and eat it hard. Bottom line: Look where you want to go.
When I land on the rail, I look to the end of the rail (look where you want to go, remember?), I position my feet in a stance slightly greater than shoulder-width apart with my lead ski at a slight angle, this position is called an A-frame because you form a slight triangle, it helps to avoid catching your lead edge and eating major shit.
If you find yourself slipping off to one side consistently at the beginning of a rail, then it helps to force yourself to try and slip off the opposite side of the rail, this often balances me out and I find I can stay on longer. If you find yourself slipping off to a side during your rail slide, and you want to push for that extra few feet then just as before lean to the opposite side (duh!!) and try and fall off that way. This surprisingly can keep you on a rail longer by shifting your balance more centre.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^What this last paragraph basically means is that if you fall off towards your tails, put pressure on your toes and vice versa. This really helped me when I was struggling to stay on for entire rails.
That's basically it, as long as you look to where you want to go then riding out the whole rail is super easy. The real key is mental preparation.
Now that the basics are covered, if you want to spin onto a rail (I'm working on these almost landed a 270 on today but I fell off the rail), then like before spot your rail out; examine where you want to take off, land, and dismount beforehand. Then visualize your run step by step, the approach, the pop, the spin, THEN the contact, and then your balance. You will catch your edge if you are worried about contact with the rail before you start your spin, by visualizing the whole process FIRST, then you can attack the rail with confidence and preform each step smoothly. Imagining a 270 onto a rail as spinning onto a rail is scary when you start out. Imagine it as independent steps to break it down and nail the trick. Popping, spinning, and then making contact with the rail are individual steps that all must be preform correctly in order to stomp the trick.
*****************************************************************************Sorry for the novel, but this is all the information I gathered from various places on my own, combined with my personal knowledge of freestyle snowboarding. I believe I covered all the essentials. Basically you have to visualize, and then go for it with speed. Speed minimizes your time sliding on the rail, and makes smooths out anything sketchy. From a physics perspective, the more horizontal velocity you have, the more force is directed parallel to the ground; this is what allows those parkour guys to jump off buildings and roll out all their kinetic energy without going splat. Going slow basically means hitting the ground harder.
SPARK NOTES:
#1 Inspect the rail (where you will take off, where you will make contact, and where you will dismount)
#2 Take a really slow run at the rail (don't even have enough speed to do the feature), pretend you are going slow motion and imagine yourself popping, then making contact with the rail.
#3 Approach the rail with more than enough speed in a straight line (do NOT speed check when you are within 15 feet of the rail)
#4 Pop harder than Orville's extra butter popcorn, you want to get higher than the rail, not just the same height.
#5 Look at your landing spot and make the adjustments to get the rail perpendicular to your feet
#6 Make contact, balance, and look at the end of the rail
I hope you benefit from all of this, I had to pretty much compile all this stuff myself. I never watched a tutorial detailing everything I explained. I wish you the best of luck, and remember that its all in your head: Mental preparation is everything.
