I have gone to COC for 2 years and this year momentum looked way sicker. Windells also looked super sick this year. COC is pretty expensive so has anyone gone to the other camps?
MHSSC (mount hood summmer ski camps for noobs)
been to momentum 2 years in a row now, fucking love it and having its own t bar makes it 10x better than coc. my buddy went to windells 3 years back then momentum 2 years in a row now so that has to be saying something
nobody can answer this unless theyve been to many of them
I haven't been to any, but I'd go to Windells. The vibes there seem awesome and just so many cool dudes working it.
so i have been to both MHSSC and COC so i will provide insite on those camps.
MHSSC is good because it is cheap, has decent food, and is chill. You get to ride both MHSSC park (hike park) and timberline public park. its very chill and gives you the small camp vibe. although it is small they still have awesome coaches.
The downside to MHSSC is it is a camp with its primary focus on racing. so basically you wake up really early because the racers want the hard snow. when i went we ended up just sitting around for between 1-2 and even then it was too early for the park to be open.
MHSSC is also obviously on Mt.Hood which is far different than whistler. you have to take buses up to the mountain from the camps and i find the snow is of poorer quality than whistler (still awesome dont get me wrong)
So COC. COC is a good camp in some aspects and bad in others. You get some decent stuff on giveaway and get to ride the COC park and whis pub park all while staying in a hotel room where you walk to the lift which takes you to the glacier ( a feature i like). COC has a bit of a price tag so what i did was go for the camp with all the food, hospitality, etc but no coaching. i was a fan of this because i did not need to like follow a group around, i could just decide what i wanted to do and ride what park i wanted to.
The downside of COC is that the park is much smaller than you expect. the huge 80 feature park you see in some videos is no more because racers have taken over all the glacier space. If you go to COC and expect a huge park you will think they have gone on welfare.
As far as momentum goes i think it looks sweet. The park this year (summer 2014) looked much better than the COC park and also had more of a creative aspect. i think it would be a better camp because you go to different restaraunts every night (it is the same restaurant every night at COC) but of course these luxuries are reflected in the prices. the only thing that bugs me about momentum is when people say that it is so much better than COC for the fact that it has a private tow. This is stupid to say because when i was there, the private tow was equally or more busy than the public one, making it no advantage. i think private is a loose term too because im am pretty certain the tow was shared with moguls and a race camp.
All in all, both COC and MHSSC are good camps, you will have fun at either, it just depends on what you are looking for!
I went to momentum this past summer. COC looked really small compared to the momentum lanes. The park at momentum is great, all of the features were fun. You also get to eat at a different place every night which is nice. The pool and hot tub area is especially nice after shredding all day and the afternoon activities are decent to. The private t bar actually makes a huge difference, it is busy as fuck right in the morning when everyone is going up at once but it evens itself out over the course of the day and is much faster than the public/coc t bar.

Best summers I ever had...went 2007 and 2008. To date haven't had a better summer since...except now im a working stiff...
great thread !
never been discussed before , curious to see how it turns out !
I really don't know if you can say its the best but Mhssc is pretty sweet, windells, coc, and momentum look fun but once I went to Mhssc I knew I wasn't trying to go anywhere else. What makes our camp so sweet is how loose it is compared to other camps. Pretty much if your not obvious or talking about whatever you may want to do in your free time you are pretty good too. I was a camper for 3 year in a row staying a really long time compared to other kids, I simply just was stoked on the coaches, the camp, and the staff/kids that were there. This was my fifth summer there and third working and I plan on going there for almost all of the summer. Plus if you come to camp i'll be making you the illest waffles and bacon you've ever seen.
Jewish Summer Camp. So much talk about masturbation.
Speaking of camps....anyone ever do SASS down in s. america? Thinking about doing that this summer when I will be between jobs for a month or so
NigelSteinMHSSC is the best
Nigel is on NS. Fuck yeah. We always got a real heavy squad of homies at camp. Best part about it.
i would be happy to go to any of these camps, but id rather be able to afford gear for like 5 seasons than waste 2,000+ dollars on a week. then theres just those rich kids that go every year or for multiple weeks.

I can only speak about MHSSC, but at about $1000 a week it's totally worth it when you think about what you're getting. Lodging, Great Food (thanks K-Staff), Coaching, Your ticket etc. not to mention all the friends you'll make and the experience. My best summer dxperiences have all been at MHSSC

Threads. Honestly just want to know more as well. Thinking about a camp just don't know which one. Heard Windells coaching and on snow time isn't as good compared to mhssc and coc. Heard the same thing about momentum. Would like to know more tho. Leaning to coc but idk if I wanna drop that much money...
