Sorry for the late reply. Haven't been around the computer much. For the person saying that I'm over-privileged, allow me to give you a little more background on the situation & cost of doing this.
I have a full ride to the University of Connecticut. In other words, I'm not losing money nor will my scholarship be revoked. I am taking this leave of absence due primarily to a medical reason. I never really wanted to get into it, so that's as far I'm going to go with that. It's been discussed with my psychiatrist, & currently my best route is to take the rest of the semester off in order to not jeopardize my gpa & whatnot.
Now, with that out of the way, "moving" somewhere is not that expensive. I will not be staying in a hotel, but renting/subletting an apartment. Depending on what I want, that shouldn't be over $2k for the month, max. I may be in college, but I am not broke. I can certainly entertain doing something like this without worrying about it too too much financially. I worked an incredibly well paying pt job my first two years in college so I do have a substantial amount of $. If need be, then yes, my parents are the for financial support, but that's irrelevant.
So from what I understand, Vancouver will have shitty weather. My approximate move out date would be in 2-4 weeks so if weather will be sub-par, then I'll stay away. I would like to go somewhere with culture. Some history to it, but with a modernized twist to it. I've been to many places around the US, including the entire east coast from Maine to Miami. I've been to Cleveland, Dallas, Phoenix, Houston, LA, Atlanta, & so on, but none of those places really hold my interest for than a couple of days. As for internationally, I recently was in London, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, & Poland. I was fascinated by London, but indeed it was rather expensive & my impression was that it'd be an ideal place to live when married.
I'm leaning towards a place near the water with access to a solid beach. Somewhere in Greece? Spain? Maybe Rio?
