so i ride at a smaller mtn called mt washington on Vancouver Island. a couple weeks ago they announced that the park will be sponsored by rockstar. For me I see it as more funding for the park crew via the sponsorship. is there anything else i should see happening with the park being sponsored now?
Depends how much funding you're getting. Definitely a great thing but it comes down to how the money is used. And no amount of money guarantees the park will be sick. With some money you can build new features, but they have to choose some ones that work best for your needs and your park crew needs to set them up well. If all that happens then all is well.
Some money flowing into the parks never hurts though. Even just being able to build a couple features each season can do huge things for a small mountain in a few years.
Hope its a great season.
my mountain is sponsored by saga and we didn't get any new rails this season
Depends more on the crew. I ski at a small Hill that has a pretty sick park but it has never been sponsored. The crew builds features year round and works their asses off in season to keep it fresh.

Yeah. Somebody has to use the money right and build some new features or even buy them.
Worked at one hill a while back and we got a fewk from monster and the owner stole it. Some people stopped getting paid at the end of the year. I had already stopped going there by then though. Shitty end and waste of a few years.
The money helps but it's all about how it's spent. You can have a sick park without being sponsored and without having much of a park budget, but it does take some money and using it well. Then on the other side you can get $ and still have a shit park.
OP, make sure your mountain doesn't buy a bunch of the same shitty feature like 20 8' flat rails etc.

This all depends on the level of sponsorship with the park. A park sponsorship (from Saga at least) can mean build new features, re brand current features, supply park crew with gear. It all depends on the details between the marketing department/park crew and the sponsor.
My home mountain parks a sponsered by Rockstar as well. We got some new rails. All of which were good. (A new rainbow, handrail, and round DFD)
My home mountain is also sponsored by rockstar and we have a dope park but i think it has even more to do with how well your crew can set it up.
The Telluride park used to be sponsored by monster, and it was sick! They got dropped a couple years ago, and the jumps stayed the same, but the rails got a lot shittier.
Sunday River recently recieved a budget for their parks after T72 was thrown in. Last year we probably saw 6-8 new features plus an urban plaza, and a variety of different jumps throughout the winter. It was nice. If your park ends up getting funds for new features and equipment I can't promise you anything but if they're smart about it you should see some cool changes
my park was sponsored by redbull a couple of years back... we got a stairset and a bag jump. other than that, nothing changed.
Redbull sponsored my park and we got one feature, a stairset, and an airbag. They made a new website too. That's all that changed. Unless it's a really serious sponsorship I wouldn't expect a whole lot to change
Bag jumps are fucking expensive. Like real expensive. Like $25k new depending on the size. Getting one for free might not seem like a lot if it's that and only one other feature but that's still a lot of loot.

for sure, the bag jump is by far the best thing to happen to kissisng bridge.

Yeah, sometimes it's really good to do some changes in the park that you are used to because the new features that might be added are sometimes very helpful for everyone's improvement.
Theres a good chance your park features will have a yellow star on them just sayin

"New rails with improved flow and more terrain park events are in the works for the upcoming winter!"
It depends how much profit margin your resort wants to take out of the sponsorship but it doesn't mean less funding that's for sure.

I kind of miss the bag this year, but i guess if the moneys going into features instead then thats sweet.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the bag. I think we still have it. Not 100% sure though. Honestly surprised they have one there considering how insane the wind is and unprotected the mountain is.
Also I think there's still some room in the budget. Doesn't seem like I'm going to get to build anything else. Hopefully if I come back next year I can come down early and bang out the beginner features I was supposed to this preseason and maybe a few other fun features.
Hoping to get a chance to hack up one of those lift towers. Into 2 or 3 sections to get a few more small but super fatty tubes to move around, throw on banks, flat tube, down tube, combo shit etc.
I'd be happy if I could bang out another 5-10 features next year. Might try to fix up a few of the older features once they start popping up out of the snow. Actually just happy I got to build something.

yeah man I would choose new features over a bag anyway.
Funny story, the bag got blown off its riggings a year or two ago and flew down the whole mountain. Nearly took out a few people.
oh god it changed so much. started doing blow all the time, being a dick to everyone, pretended like he didn't know me any time i saw him with a group. lost all his old friends and didn't give a fuck. had a plane fly a banner saying THE WORLD IS YOURS over the mountain, it was obnoxious. he's changed...

Not surpsied at all. Cant believe they actually rock one on that mountain.

Useless. Go back to nsg.
Meadows got sponsored by Nike and they have seen a huge improvement in there parks when it comes to real features. Even though it lacks the quality of expectation there parks are getting better each year

you should send me the jackets and ill pass them over to the park crew
Depends. Steamboat used to be so sick back in 07 when it was sponsored by sobe. Once they dropped us our park went to shit. Recently got picked up by gopro and park is still shit.

Whats wrong there? I've heard this a few times but seen pictures of a shit ton of nice looking features in the lot getting fixed up a year or so ago.

Meadows parks are still pretty meh. The Nike funding produced a lot of new features, but the park crew still cant set them up properly and maintain them (or build jumps).

oh fuck off, i make one stupid joke out of thousands of helpful ski gabber posts and i'm such an issue suddenly, relax
My park is sponsored by rockstar and they give us money for new rails and now its fucking sick, they also put their logo on the rail and put some flags at the top

Most of the time if you see logos on features at smaller resorts, they've penned a deal with a local rep.
A decal or a stencil on a feature might get the mountain swag for comps (aka left over samples), gear for the park crew, or maybe a stack of proforms for employees.
The first "large" deal we had where I managed was a deal with Rockstar Energy. The resort itself re-upped a deal with PepsiCo so we took the opportunity to make a deal with Rockstar.
I built a handful of features for them and in return we had $X,XXX to spend on marketing through PepsiCo and (X) amount of guaranteed appearances at events with an agreed upon level of support at each one. Which equated to sampling during the event, gear for prizes and swag to toss out.

Sounds about right. I wish we had more retail space where I was at that we could have carried your gear. Would have loved to make some features for saga.

Correctamundo.
You will probably get a couple rails and flags. Maybe a couple rockstar sponsored comps too.
