I did at 18, which i feel like is the og age for your parents to kick non college bound kids out.
18 for college then I came home every summer
21 I moved out into a rental and at 23 I bought my own place
17. I had a pretty good HS job, and a best friend who was in college offered me the extra room for cheap. It really just meant I didn't have to drive to school anymore, as his place was literally across the street.
Oh my god the parties had in that place hahaha. No 17 year old should ever be given their own room in a college party house. Senioritis became a whole other thing that year.
I left at 17 for college, and moved out at 18 when my parents started charging rent. So i moved 3000km away
18. Finished high school, worked for the summer and moved to Germany for a year.
Moved out at 18 and it was the best thing ever, moved back in at 24 and it was the best thing ever (after a gnarly break up)... now looking to buy a house at 25 so my parents don't judge me whenever I bring back a dumb blonde haha
My parents kicked me out for a few months when I was 17. So that was a fun time.
I'm 18 now and hopefully I'll be in an apartment by December/January. Living on your own is so much better. It's more stressful financially but everything else is pretty awesome.
moved out at 18, went to college said fuck it liked living too much on my own. live 400 miles away now live in upstate ny year round now
haha ironic timing for this thread.
im 25, single, have a stable engineering job and I live with a roommate to develop a decent financial savings and just so I dont have to live alone (it would get lonely and I would become a hermit).
My roomy told me last night that his mom is breaking up with her boyfriend and will be moving in with us. Because of that, he "highly suggests" that I move out.
I have no where to move to since I dont want to live alone in a shitty studio apartment where my neighbors would be cracked out indians. And all of my friends are either living with their significant other or dont want a roommate (understandable).
I dont think I want to buy a house yet as I would be 100% tied down to this town that im not exactly happy to be living in.
Sooooo my parents offered me to move back with them until I get things sorted out. And its looking like my only option if I dont want to be homeless.
and ive been considering applying for new jobs in Montana so that I can spread my wings and get out of this town, but I really dont want to upset my bosses as I have only been working here a year and a half and they have put alot of time into training me.
/endrant. its been a stressful week so far
Moved out at 18. But just recently moved back in with my mom to help her out around the house while she trys to get it ready to sell
Out at 18. Went to college for a semester, came home for a month or two and then I was out again. Moved in to an amazing apartment with a friend of mine who turned out to be fucking psycho. I've been living on my own ever since.
pat_in_the_hatbut I really dont want to upset my bosses as I have only been working here a year and a half and they have put alot of time into training me.
This shouldn't be a deciding factor

This kinda. moved out at 18 did a semester, then bailed and lived around for a few years. been out here on my own ever since and loving it, couldn't imagine living with my parents again at this point in my life haha.
When I moved to my own place I found it pretty lonely, missed my dog most, so after a couple of months I got a cat. I would prefer a dog but just not fair to leave him alone all day. I have tried to train her like a dog and when I visit my folks I bring the cat too. She now comes for walks with the dog, it's quite weird
It all started when my roomate and I got kicked out of our freshman year college. There was this deuce bag swimmer guy that we became friends with and eventually threw a huge on campus party with. Campus security shut it down and kicked us out for it. We all found telemarketing jobs and split rent for a baller party house with a pool. We just constantly get drunk and high and go on crazy misadventures. Solid life.
I'm almost 21, living at home and going to university. I don't think I'll moving out till next summer at the earliest.

Lived at home for a while after college...do it man its awesome. Saved an insane amount of money and also was able to go crazy on weekends since I had no real financial obligations besides car insurance ($55/ month) and my commuter pass ($200 month). Had a blast and balled out so hard.
Moved out at 18 for the navy. Got out and fortunately rent a house across the street from my parents. I enjoy eating meals over there and grabbing stuff I need like toilet paper.
I moved out right before I turned 19 for college. I came home for the summer, spent a few days (read: two) each week at their house while living up at Lake Tahoe, I've got an apartment in Bozeman now, so I guess everything is alright.
Moved out at 18 and haven't been home for more than 3 consecutive weeks ever since. Utah is my home now.
4 years ago last week. From Golden, BC to Calgary, AB.
Sometimes, I just randomly remember that I'm on my own.
Funny how it is.

Let's get weird
17, just shy of my 18th birthday. Just moved 10min down the road from my moms house to be closer to the ski hill. After the ski season I moved to British Columbia and that was that.
peaced out from shitty old maine when i turned 18. moved to whistler. haven't looked back. i went back there for the first time this year actually, holy fuck that place sucks. halifax however, where i was born, is awesome, just not as fun as whistler.
Nothing against people who have moved out, but i do have a problem with people who look down on people for not moving out.
First of all, its cheap. in this day and age the smart thing to do is save your money in every way you see possible. People who enjoy saving money also tend to be good at making money. untill you get a job than can easily pay for a kick ass place or buy a home, living at home will save you a fuckton of money.
secondly, there is a tendency among people who age horribly and look like dirty old men to assume that everybody thats their age has become bald and fat like them. yes there is something weird about the image of john c reilly (who isnt funny at all) living with his parents but not everybody becomes as fat, bald, unfunny, untalented and astoundingly ugly as him as they age.
in europe living at home is a very normal thing, and nobody bats an eye because most people their age well and stay in shape.
Its those in america who are angry about how horribly they have aged who sneer at the idea of people living at home. It really boils down to people being jealous of those who are much better at dominating everything in life than they are.

Why did you get all defensive. No one in here even hinted at making fun of or looking down on people who live with their parents for a while after school. Insecure much?
i live alone now, i have lived at college for 4 years and now at medical school
i lived with my parents for a few weeks each summer
I moved out when I was 18 for college and I have lived on my own since. I couldn't really imagine living with my parents again.
18, moved to norway for 6 months, moved back in with my parents due to a death close to me, moved into a rental with a buddy at the beginning of this summer. best part is my parents own the rental. living rent free is quite the amazing thing, plus my landlords are total homies
Moved out at 18, just me and my van. 5 years later I'm back in college and working a great job, cannot wait for the future.
Hugo i was just expressing my thoughts over the culture in the us that seems to denounce living at home.
Its a culture of a previous generation, when there were new homes being built all the time, everywhere.
I dont really appreciate movies like stepbrothers and failure to launch which seem to poke fun at people living at home when there is nothing wrong with it.
Go ahead and laugh at ppl living at home. I assure you, theyre laughing too... All the way to the bank
but yeah im not reacting to anything ne1 posted. Just responding to the uniquely american culture that makes fun of it.
Moved out when I was 20 for Uni. My roommate is a careless "kid" who does nothing but sit at home and play xbox til he goes to class at 1-2pm (Admin student).I feel like ranting, I have full days schedule (Computer/Electrical Engineering) and I still manage to come back home with grocery, do his dishes (kinda forced so I can cook into something) and deal with any problems happening around the appt because hes absolutely clueless. We've talked about this but he always come up with "I was in a hurry.. or I was way too fucked up this morning lol". I'm considering finally moving out this year, it seems good friends don't necessarily make good roomies.

Damnit you disappointed. I wanted to see a dolan rant
hugo i thought my first post shouldve left you satisfied.
But if not, dont worry. The battles have been won, but the war is never over
Graduated high school which I was relived that I did. I have a lot of resentment from high school and will never wish I was back in high school. This resentment sort of lapsed into going to community college along with learning the same shit in high school and it was going to be that way for 2 to 3 years burning money away and I didn't even know what the fuck I was going to college for anyway.
After that shit storm of frustration I said fuck it I'm going to do what I like and that's ski. I quit my shitty job at the market basket with like two days of notice and did not give one single fuck about being nice to my boss and giving a two weeks notice. Moved out to the sunday river part of maine seeing that they were one of the last resorts hiring, got a shitty apartment with heat and water included for $350 a month with the gorgeous sights, smells, and sounds of a paper mill that was right in front of me. Got a job as a liftie and it started my now ski bum life and if I head back east I'm guaranteed a job at sunday river.
tl;dr 18
I went to boarding school when I was 12 ... and rarely went home in the holidays because my parents were living in the Mid-East, but 'officially' moved out when I was 18.
"moved" out at 16 to go to another school 225 miles away. But I go back home on weekends and such so not really. but yeah
I've moved out twice already. First when I had just turned 16 to go to school, but came back quite often and stuff. After graduating I moved back in the house, and then last fall I moved to Switzerland. Came back and I've lived in the house on and off for a total of like three months, and now I'm moving out "for real" any day. Actually in the process of packing my things, and every day I try to find out where I am going to live.
Went to college at 18. Currently 23 living in my parents camp for April through October. Rent near skiing in the winter.
I'm twenty three and I still live with my parents.
I have a good job and could live on my own, but i get along with them, it's only a 15 minute commute everyday, and it's saving me a ton of money.
overall not that bad.
Went to college 800 miles away, last year and have only visited 3 times since then. Independence rules.

This. I can drop so much money on random shit and nights out and my bank account still keeps growing.
I was 18 when I moved out. I moved to New York and then Utah for college. Living on my own is great but I've never appreciated my mom's cooking as much as I do now when I visit.
