Title explains all, just something I've seen, probably because more young kids see snowboarding as the cooler thing to do and want to fit in. But at my home hill there is like a 3/1 ratio of snowboarders to skiers, it's kinda crazy. I need more NS there
Im pretty sure the vast majority of mountains/hills have more skiers
My home away from home mountain is, got in a rail jam there and was the only skier out of 50 or so boarders. They despised me but liked pretzels of any sort.
Snowboarding is a quickly declining industry. nothing more than a 30 year phase, they'll all be gone soon, skiing is eternal.
At my mountain there are more skiers, but in the park there's about a 10/1 ratio of snowboarders to skiers.
I usually see more skiers wherever I go but the majority of them are old. Youth wise I see more snowboarders especially on the East Coast.
My home mountain is Keystone and I feel like there are a lot more snowboarders on the front side and in the park, but I never see too many in the bowls or on the third mountain in the back.

That's where I live, the east coast and I just feel like there are quite a bit more snowboarders throughout. Not at the tops of mountains where I see a lot more experienced older skiers, but park definitely and small resorts
we have 85% to 15% skiiers to snowboarders, but its the alps so...
I used to ski Mt. Baker and they have had the most snowboarders to skiers at any place I have been. The snowboarders fuck over the hill with retarded moguls that are choppy. Thankfully they get loaded with snow so its never to big of an issue.

Yea back home I would go to Snowshoe every weekend and there are always more snowboarders than skiers from my experience. I went there for about 4 seasons straight and nothing really has changed.

Yeah I definitely see that, and I'm not saying I hate it, just kind of interesting, I really think it's because of Shaun whites success through the xgames and a lot of kids wanting to copy him. Just a thought
It seems like a lot of Midwest hills are that way. My hill has more skiers on rentals then everyone else with their own equipment combined times two. But yes when it comes to season pass holders. There are far more snowboarders. If there is a 100 people in the park, 97 of them would be on a snowboard.
Sounds like Mountain Creek on the East Coast. literally its like a 4-1 ratio and like a 10-1 ratio in the park

If I ever heard a kid say they started snowboarding because of Shaun White, I would shove them down a triple black diamond.
me and my friends are often the only skiers in the park at sunburst
I'd say at my park it's 8 snowboarders to 1 skier. And theres only me and one other girl who snowboards.
At coffee mill, its probably 3-1 skiers-boarders outside the park and about 3-1 boarders-skiers in the park.
However I went to mt lacrosse twice last year and it was 10-1 skiers-boarders outside the park and 3-1 skiers-boarders inside the park

I picked up skiing after I saw Edollo in the I feel ghood edit. Should I be shoved down a triple black diamond?
I remember as a kid at pats peak when p.o.p night was $20 there was definitely more boarders than skiiers. I want to say that was back in 05ish. Brighton in utah I want to say its 50/50.
MinggI'd say at my park it's 8 snowboarders to 1 skier. And theres only me and one other girl who snowboards.
SO how does it feel to be the hottest girl on the hill?

Not at all sir. HH can do it alllll and is incredibly stylish. Shaun White is good at super pipe. He's barely qualified for slopestyle the last 2 years and both he pulled out. Somebody else could have been in those spots, and what about big mountain? Never seen him do it.

youre a moron and you sound every bit as stupid as the 12 year old snowboarders who hate on skiing

hahaha well just saying, if a kid that knows nothing about skiing/snowboarding wanted to start, what do you think they would do? because in my opinion Shaun white is more popular with espn ect, than a lot of skiers are. When you do see skiers theyre usually associated with downhill and not as much freestyle, although freestyle is gaining more media coverage now that it had in the past thanks to the olyimpics.

lol guy to girl ratios are a whole different story, i think in total ive seen 1 girl at my park ever, though she did ski. the other ones are either lost or following guy friends.
I have to say its equal at my mountain because it goes for being very "family friendly." In the park though, there have been days were the group I go with are the only skiers in the park, maybe 3-4 others that are not rentals exploring the park and the rest are boarders. When Im on the trails though I tend to see it more equal.
My home mountain is about equal but the strangest thing is there are snowboarders on ski patrol.
I think it depends where you are on mountain. At Stevens pass I notice way more snowboarders in the park usually, but other parts of mountain there are more skiers. Sorta on topic, but anyone else watch the monthly Stevens pass videos? I've never seen a skier in one and I think it's kinda weird. They definitely should have skiers In the videos also
The mountains in SoCal (Bear/Mt. High) have a much larger amount of snowboarders for sure
I heard this a while ago and i don't know if it is true but apparently the amount of kids today taking snowboarding lesson has decreased a lot in the last 10 years and skiing has been gaining kids.
I live in the midwest and when I started skiing 10 years ago from what I can rember seeing a skier in the park was like seeing a fucking unicorn. I actually chose to do skiing because everyone was snowboarding and I wanted to be different. but now I see 3 or 4 others in the park so I guess its gaining slowly.
In the Detroit area I'm going to say there is more skiers. There is quite a bit of boarders though. I wondered about this with all the news of the snowboard industry dying. Personally I really don't like boarders, they constantly clog the hill tops!
It is really balanced out here in europe. On the slopes it is 25/1 skier to boarder, but in the park its 50/50
I ski at alta, so that pretty much explains everything.
There used to be way more snowboarders than skiers at my resort. It's starting to even out but the numbers are still a little bit in favor of snowboarders
At my home mountain there is probably a 2:1 ratio of skiers to boarders in the park, but the park crew consist of almost all boarders and they set up rail jams and such for only snowboarders

yeah they do tend to just sit haha, and i dont really think snowboarding is dying personally. it seems stronger than ever lately
a.dogeAt my home mountain there is probably a 2:1 ratio of skiers to boarders in the park, but the park crew consist of almost all boarders and they set up rail jams and such for only snowboarders
yeah same with my park crew, all boarders
There are quite a bit more snowboarders than skiers at my home mountain. However, most of them are just sitting on their bums all day trying to get the confidence to do the features I have been doing all day. So even though the ration of skiers-boarders is unequal, we skiers own the park hitting 5 features to their 1.
