I always think of right spinners as the lefties of skiing. What is the actual ratio? I spin left because i saw most people do it, and i just copied them. Is this what happened to most people, or do they spin whatever seemed natural?
I think I naturally spin to the left, but... I've learned a bunch of different sports over the years, and I found that "natural" spin direction can be influenced by the first tricks you learn.
I ride bikes with my left foot forward, which makes it slightly easier to spin to the right on bmx. Spinning to the right started feeling natural.
The first trick you learn kiteboarding is a frontside spin, so the direction you spin depends on whether you're goofy or regular. I'm goofy so I learned it spinning to the right. After 3 years, spinning to the left while kiteboarding feels really unnatural.
But anything else? To the left, by default.
Im pretty sure most of us spin left naturally. The reason? Idk
I started with spinning left since it felt more natural, but it turned out not to really work out, so I switched to spuinning right, whihc works way better. I really don't know which way is my natural way of spinning though, since whenever I do those kind of test that are supposed to show you, I always get mixed results.
I've always thought it had to do with handedness. I'm a lefty and spin right and most righties I know spin left. It might be something about using your dominant hand to power the momentum of the spin. Just a guess though.
Both
Depends on the trick. I spin a little better to the left usually snowboarding/skiing. I spin better to the right on my bike.
Definitely don't copy what people are doing. That's being better at snowboarding/surfing goofy but riding regular because you saw somebody doing it.
Don't you kind of know which way you're better at spinning from just doing it? Pools, trampolines, jumping off the bleachers in elementary school whatever? Idk.
Had you never spun off of anything non skiing?

That's what I ment. All those non skiing spins (especially on the tramp), I don't have a preferred side. Also those test where you lean forwars and check which foot you use to regain balance, that stuff doesn't work for me, I always get mixed results.
I just found that I like spinning right more on skis (on the tramp I usually spin left for some reason)
So far the ratio is 3:1; Mendel's heterozygous cross ratio

you are a very lucky man.
JosephRikysyou are a very lucky man.
well I still suck though haha
I spin right which is weird considering my dominant hand is my right
Whenever I tried tricks whether it was skiing or on a trampoline I never thought about what direction I should spin I just kinda spun whatever way felt best.

I think it has something to do with when spinning left you throw more with your right side, which for most people is the more dominant side. I could be wrong though.
I was a lefty in gymnastics, I skate regular(left foot forward) but when I hit rails I go right foot forward. So I guess it all just depends on the person And what is most comfortable.

skating regular and sliding right foot forward is pretty common due to both being controlled primarily by your right (dominant) foot.
I have a friend that spins left, but slides a rail left foot foward. WTF is his issue?

That's what I do. I thought this was what most people did.
Mistys and flats I spin right, regular spins and corks I spin left.
It's because I lincoln loop left, though.
More flip = spin right
More spin = spin left
So it's hard for me to misty anything over a 7, because I can't misty unnatural.

My cousin does exactly that… He's a fuckin' retard

I spin left and am slightly more comfortable left foot forward. I started out sliding right foot forward but I wanted to spin frontside and only tried to slide left foot forward. Now I am more comfortable doing that, but still slide right foot forward pretty alright.
I spin left only because I feel comfortable leading with my right hand/foot.
I spin left naturally on everything, skis, trampolines, skateboards (backside), wakeboards and bmx (except for flyout, I naturally ride out to my right but send spins to my left). I assume it's just because I'm right handed and footed and I can just set the rotation easier.

This is definitely true. Whenever I go to places like sky zone for a long period of time, I get cramps on my right side from throw things left. Went today actually and I tried learning corks (I was doing them really inverted now that I go back and look) and my ribs on the right still feel like shit.
i spin both ways, but I can write with both hands too
I'm right handed and am far more comfortable spinning to the left
