Avalanche Classes

I search barred and couldn't find a lot of stuff on the topic. I'll take the KBYG Avalanche class that they offer for free but I'm just wondering how much avalanche education one should get to be comfortable in the bc? I know you can't have too much and nothing's better than hands on experience but what would be a good stopping point?

I've taken just one Avy class before and I feel more comfortable. But you are right, hands on experience is the best. Try to look for a Avy class that actually goes out in the field or find some people to go into the bc with and learn from them. Nice to see a fellow bc skiier!

there is no stopping point. do you usually stop learning about something you like to do with any other subject?

take an Avy 1 class, go put it to some use then if you feel the need to further your education on the subject then take Avy 2.

does this even need a thread? lol

i personally want to get avy 1 certified, i took like an intro class that taught the basics. and if your spending a lot of time in the backcountry, there isnt a stopping point on information and classes, the more you know the better

I was just curious how avy certified people were before they started going out continuously in the bc. What should I expect to get out of one class of avalanche training and will that be enough for the first couple of tours? You too man! Just getting out there this winter but everybody's gotta start somewhere haha.
