ok so theres this ski im looking at, its symetrical. symetrical flex, the whole deal. the thing is ive never ridden a symetrical ski before, and im 6'1 160 and the only length is 180 cm. (note. this ski does have symetrical rocker in the tip and tail.) would this ski be to short for me in the park and all mountain? also how to center mounted skis do well all mtn? (yet this ski is designed to be center mounted and has a 24m turn radius) any help regarding center mounted skis gets some major k++++
What is the actual ski? The crj? Generally center mount will only really be good for park. It can work for all mnt but generally won't be as good as a ski mounted slightly back. For powder I don't think center is good at all. It's much better I think to be a few cm back for pow but it will all depend on the ski. Some skis will be designed to be ski centres and they still may be good all mnt. If your unsure just wait until the start of the season and demo the ski you are interested in. One of the great things with demo bindings is you can change the mount point too to find out where you want them mounted.

nope its not the crj, as i already have that ski as my touring setup. i cant find the name of the ski but i did happen to right the dimensions dwown, 113-95-113, its designed to be center mounted, and has a little rocker. and sadly im not available to many if not any demos hahaha. so basically im wondering if it will be too short for me ( check op) and if sym skis are that bad of an all mtn ride.
Well what is the build of the ski? What is the core? Are there any laminates? Is it sidewall/cap/50-50? All those factors will detrimental what size you will want.

they were uwmh sidewalls, 2.5 mm edges and a wood/maple core

So full sidewall? Does the core hav any laminates or just a plain wood layup. Also does the core have any flex change throughout it length. If you really can't demo you need to try to find out as much about how the ski is built to try and gain an idea of how it will ski.

im not sure, what will a stiffer ski feel like compared to a softer one??? my crjs are quite soft in the noses, and way stiffin the back, so i know how that feels
They will feel poppier and more responsive. More alive so to speak.

alright, thanks man
these the skis op?

YES! those are the skis! have you ridden them?

haha. Also, something to note, the Rayzrbladyz although having a symmetrical shape do not have a symmetrical flex. The tails are a bit more stiff than the tips.
Center mounted skis let you spin wicked fast, but they tend to fight your turn a bit because of all the ski behind the binding. In the park that isn't a huge problem, but off piste you'll definitely notice it. The ski tends to chatter and move around when you're in the crud.
I find center mounted skis more predictable anywhere on the mountain (excluding pow). They will feel kinda funny at first, but after awhile they'll be sweet.

no I just googled the dimensions
bumpppp, so basically what im asking is if i have a twin tip thats designed to be center mounted, will it be alright on the all mountain performance.(like im not expecting race ski performance here)
i recently email one company about skis that were meant to be center mounted. what they said that was if you ride park 90%+ of the time go center, if not go farther back. then they said if you ski no park go -4. i told them i do pretty much everything then they told me that -2 would be the money spot for all mtn. the ski I'm talking about isn't the kitten skis but its still close to the same concept.

Stiffer ski will be much better for more aggressive or bigger guys. When you try to ski hard especially edging hard on a soft ski you find the ski will just buckle and you will lose an edge. A stiffer ski will resist this more and let you actually edge hard and atack the mountain. They will generally have much more pop too. However the rocker profile and how torsionally stiff the ski is are also big factors. A ski like the crj for example with a soft nose can not be charged on really. So if you like the crj you may find your style ie more upright may suit either a flatter ski or a slightly softer flex. But without trying enough diggernt skis it's hard to know what you like. So even if you can't demo the skis you are looking at go demo a load of skis and find the style and shapes that suit you best.
