I have like 8 different colors of those. You just have to pick the right one for the right water/conditions.

I'm pretty sure it was the president of Powell Rods who just broke the world record catch for spotted Bass a couple days ago too. I think it was right around #10. They are such good lookin' fish!

Hell yeah! Now that I go to school in Montana I am learning to fly fish and slay trout on the rivers, can't wait until I am competent and can spend every day out on the river. I'm also really in to high alpine lake trout fishing. Backpacking in to remote lakes that get stocked with cuttys via helicopter, stay a couple nights and just slay trout up in the mountains. Nothing better than a flask of whiskey and a fat ol' cutthroat wrapped in foil on the campfire in a basin lake surrounded by peaks.

Depending on where you love and what you're fishing I'd get a decent 6'10"ish Medium or Med Heavy power spinning rod & reel combo and put 10-20lb Sunline SX1 braid on it. Get some EGW hooks and 7" plastic worms, creature plastics or pit bosses and YouTube how to Texas Rig them. Depending on the conditions you want to fish, you can dial in your baits with cranks, frogs, spinnerbaits, jigs etc etc... But I don't know enough to really steer you in any real direction.
Wired2Fish has a lot of great articles and such on info for beginners wanting to learn more. I'd check that out for sure.

Huck_NorrisNice spotter!
Thanks bros! Caught it on a shiner down on Lake Gaston in NC.
Honestly had no idea what this fish was when i caught it. I mean, I knew it was a bass, i thought it was a small mouth. Stoked to know what is it is now! Love how vivid the spots are on this.

I gave you a compliment and you call me the female reproductive system. That is quite harsh but mr. "Chubz" you are correct, I am what I eat. Therefore I am a "pussy" because I eat out females all day. But I am not childish and use slang such as "pussy" I have the guts to say " a girls pee pee hole"

I only fish in small ponds or reservoirs around here. Nothing too big but decent sized. I have a rod I just need to know what kind of hooks or other accessories I should buy.

So I did some quick research.

Typical wikihow article. So i'm thinking some spinners. What kind of fake bait should I buy for it. I saw frenchy post something earlier.
Spent like another 200$ yesterday at Cabelas on rods+baits... Great.
mccarthy to be honest in hot summer months like this your best bet for ponds would be slow moving softbaits. look up Berkley Pit Boss, Berkley chigger craw, etc. For me I dont even usually use a weight on them.
in other news: Bassmaster just retweetd my 6-14 pounder on twitter. YES THATS A BIG DEAL!
have had 0 luck yet with cathing anything. I feel like the cranks i'm using are too big for the ponds I'm fishing even though I use a small ass one. I need suggestions on what kind of fake bait I should buy/ if I should use a weight or not. I also feel like my strategy is wrong.

Rubber worms - Carolina rigged if no weeds and Texas rigged if it is.. I like senkos or yum dingers. If you get the right worms you won't need a weight
i dont do any special rigs....all i do is thread the worm through the hook and stick it out. like

To me that picture looks like a drop shot, so youre already doing a "fancy rig"
Wish there was good bass fishing in colorado, used to love to fish the weedless worms for the Larrys back east
Nice bass pic above^^ ! i've got pretty good bass thumb goin on from these past few days on the lake
lol @ my tongue
nothing big, was weighed at 1.64lb. finally a friend with a boat on one of the top fishing lakes in North America.. lol

Easy.
Buy:
2 packs of #2 EGW hooks
2 Pack of 6" roboworms
2 packs of 4" pit bosses
A couple 1/8oz. & 1/4oz bullet weights
Look up how to Texas rig and Carolina rig. Between those baits, the options to peg them with nose weights and using both those rigs you should start catching fish.
Weightless t rig is my go to though. Throw it at pads or cover and fish will eventually pound it.
the only bass fishing advice I really have is that when it comes time for picture time, hold that fish as far away from your body and as close to the camera as you can
oh and i got this for my birthday, my 6lb14oz bass in a frame!!

there is a reason they call me the lunker...
i just sent this to mccarthy, but heres some tips
hard baits
i recommend top water baits for a little foggy water (walkers, poppers)
I also recommend getting a spro frog, they are great for places with a lot of weeds
lipless rattler crank baits seem to work for me (let them sink and then start reeling.)
sometimes ones with lips work well (they sink when you start reeling)
soft baits
Zoom! makes these soft baits called 'horny toads' these work fairly well during midseason
sometimes i use chigger craws with a hook with a weight at the top and texas rig it, horny toads get texas rigged too.
sometimes i wacky rig but very rarley, i reccomend rigging it with a bullet weight about 4 inches above the worm so it will sink, you have to reel in EXTREMELY slow. it gives it a sort of walking motion
live bait
i rarley use live bait, but when i do, i use bluegill. one hook thru their back above their spine and a treble hook on the same line with one hook near their ass, i would rig this up to a cat fish pole or a secondary MH or H pole and let it sit. set the drag loose, then tighten it when you begin reeling a biggin.
Is there a general fishing thread somewhere?
We don't have any bass out here in AB (as far as I know), but lots of pike and trout. I'm also taking off after work today and driving out to Prince Rupert (BC coast) with some buddies and we are going salmon/halibut/whatever else we get fishing for a few days. Can't wait to get out on the ocean and see what we get!

There's a whole cult dedicated to it- open cult too. Join away and start posting!
also, found a crankbait with no bill. like the part to put it on, is on the middle of it.
how do i use it?
There isn't nearly enough pictures in this thread

Let it sink to the desired depth then reel it in. You can do different cadences too.... stopping it or jerking it periodically
