what is the ideal speed for quality through slow motion?
Doesn't matter really, just get a class 10 card.

But with Magic Lantern, if you want to up the bit-rate, don't you need a fast card?
class 10 is the highest bit rate and fastest card. so you should be fine.

This is insanely wrong.
Rdwagner2class 10 just means 10 Mbps
This is kinda right, its 10 MB/s(Mega BITS per second), which is actually 80 mbps (mega BYTES per second) 1MB = 8Mb
Class 10 is NOT the fastest. If a card is faster than a basic class 10 card, it will say the speed on the card aka 15MB up to 80MB and higher now days.

There are threads on the magic lantern forum that discuss this more in depth, it'd be a good idea to check those out for a complete list. Personally, I've had good experiences with both Sandisk Extreme Pro (CF and SD) and Komputer Bay (CF) with magic lantern. You definitely want a class 10, but also pay attention to the write speed of the card.
omnidataThis one.
I just bought a 32gb Lexar 1066x Digital Rape™ Edition, and I do have to say, it's fucking awesome.
