Hey guys I'm looking into mics and was curious if any of you have used the rode video mic go, if so did it drain your batteries quickly? is quality mediocre or similar to other rode mics? I would be using it on my t3i and I have a couple of batteries, so is this the best option for me?
It's pretty good. I use it and don't have too many complaints. The sound is very crisp but it does have a slight static to it. On rare occasion it randomly just doesn't record which sucks, but there's a chance that it's my fault and I haven't figured out why. It does use a significant amount of battery but that isn't an issue if you have plenty of batteries.
I wish I had just bought a used pro mic tho. They pop up on here every once in a while for a comparable price to the go and are significantly better.
Hope that helped!
Always depends on your use of the mic. The Videomic go is really good for the price, clean sound and easy to use, but if you're planning on doing a lot of interviews maybe a second-hand Rode Pro would fit your needs better. The videomic go is good for interviews but only when there's not too much sound around.
this would really just be for skiing, i also film urban which is why I am curious about how much it will kill my battery

For skiing the Go would do the job perfectly, it does kill the battery faster (never really payed attention on how fast) but I was always good with 2 full batteries even for urban, for a long shoot if you have 3 batteries you should be good.
Honestly I didn't like it, just get go pro, get the vidmic pro

Ya the pro is dope except if you're nukin on a follow cam then the wind can rip the mic off its little elastic acustic isolation things.
I just taped it down and now its $$$
