So guys im going to be in Spain for about 2 months and I'd love to have a camera for it. I don't know a lot about camera's unfortunately which is why I'm asking for help. My price range maxes out at about $800, maybe $1000 if it's worth it which I know limits my options. I also don't want a camera that is too large or heavy because I'm going to be doing A LOT of walking around with if. I'm basically looking for the best camera I can get for the price range I listed without it being too bulky. I'd really appreciate any help thanks!
Well I was looking at a dslr like the Nikon d5200 but I'm not sure if it's going to be tough to carry around or not. Sorry I don't know much about anything :/

No worries man, the d2300, from what I've heard, is a fairly small dslr. You'll just have to do more research on google. Sorry if this is no help.
You could pick up a T2i pretty cheap and get a few quality lenses, else I would probably go the point and shoot route.

The t2i seems just about perfect honestly thank you very much!
t2i is good, I have had my eye on something like this: https://www.newschoolers.com/forum/thread/778918/FS--Fuji-X10----200 for a travel camera it could be dope. go for a higher end point and shoot or compact if you aren't going to be a serious photographer. You don't need a DSLR to take good photos, you just need to have a decent camera with you when you see great photos happen. Feel free to hit me up with any other camera questions.
Don't get a t2i for photography. Don't get any Canon t something i.
Buy the other guy's Nikon D3100 and buy a Nikon 35mm f/1.8G lens with it and you'll be quite sweet.
If you need smaller I'd seriously look into that new Olympus E-M10 with pancake zoom lens. Perhaps get a Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 lens with it.
Otherwise the Sony RX100 and RX10 are pretty sweet cameras, as are the different Fuji models.

Just out of curiosity, why not t2i? By all accounts they are great cameras, I loved mine. If he ever gets into video way more glass can be adapted to canon.
hey man i got the canon 650d (australian version of t4i i think) anyways its a mad dslr for everything, if you want to use it after spain and get into some filming and photography it is the camera to get esspecially if you arent that experienced just set it on auto mode and your sweet, i bought a mad daypack/ camera back i recomend getting one of these so u can but other shit in aswell as the camera. i got the twin lense kit so 18-55mm and 55-250mm which in my mind is pretty good pm if u have any more questions, price range is about $700- $800 in australia but probs cheaper where u are
t2i is a super solid choice for you for that price. I personally have a Sony a65, not a prime choice for photo but phenomenal video for a camera costing about $1000 with a lens. Also its super light for a DSLR.
I really like the iphone it's even got slomo and a built in memory card

+1 to this, it's a fantastic camera. I never use my DSLR for anything other than events where I'm paid to be there, they're so fucking large and heavy. The cheap lenses are built like shit as well, but tbh what more would you expect. I don't use digital compacts, since I started shooting film I've had no need for it.
At the top of your budget, a fuji x100s would be fantastic. You can probably get a good deal on it second hand. Superb jpeg image quality, no need to shoot raw as long as you get the white balance right (you will) which means more photos will fit on your SD card. The biggest downside is the fixed, non-interchangeable lens. That lens, however, is at 35mm equivalent which, given thought, will give you better photos. It's my favourite focal length...
Also, it looks beautiful. DSLRs look like cheap plastic toys, even my 60D.
I recommend getting one second hand to fit with your budget. However, here's the B&H link.
^ this for sure. The x100s is a wicked solid choice and you don't need to worry about lenses and stuff. DigitalRev tv did a video comparing it and the x100 if you're curious about that.
