How? They have been making the same exact fucking car since the opened their doors in 1931.
OP you have probably one of the best reputations on this website for anything car related, and since we know you worked with that porsche team and made a thread about it, i am requesting a thorough justification to such an outrageous claim. (IMO saying any one individual company is simply "the best" is outrageous)
Porsche was lightyears ahead of the rest of the world with the 959. The f40 comparatively was an unreliable piece of shit that could rarely do its claimed top speed.
Porsche has had to deal with the user unfriendlyness of having an engine at the back for half a century, and although it has killed hundreds of yuppies, it is now very drivable and predictable at the limit, especially in 4wd models like the turbo.
What most people dont know, is that unlike most performance cars at the same level, porches are unfuckingbelievably reliable. The last for hundreds of k miles, and hold as tight as a drum.
My dad had a 90 targa when i was a kid for 3 years and sold it for 3000 bucks less than he bought it. No problems, ever.
Porsche engineering is redonkulous
I don't follow it that closely, but does Porsche have an F1 team or build any cars?
arent they paying owners like 2 grand a month while they fix the engine fire problem?
porsche has no F1 team, most are mercedes owned rn...or sponsored or however it works...
that being said...Toyota>porshce if i want a daily driver...porsche if i want luxury...
my dream car is the gt2rs. 630 hp and about 300 pounds if i remember correctly. 0-100mph 6.5 sec
i wish they would make a mid engine diesel sports car
Spssi wish they would make a mid engine diesel sports car
The fuck why?
I wish someone would make an overcooked grass fed fillet minion.

I am huge huge Porsche fan. As I have said before on here, the gt3 is the most complete, and well rounded car I have ever driven.
Porsche's are decently reliable, I wouldn't say any more or less then any of the other major super car companies.
My good friends has a 06 gt3. It has 43K miles on it. It is amazing, however he could have probably purchased another gt3 with the amount of money he has spent on parts breaking and maintenance.
A few years ago a coolant hose blew, and the whole motor had to come out to get access to it, that costed a few grand.
2 years ago the diff came apart on a track day. So he got an upgraded diff, and race suspension that came off a wrecked cup car....that cost $14k
3 weeks ago, he had all 4 brakes done, and few other "Minor" things done as well. Yea, that was almost $6k.
Last week I was driving the car, when all of sudden the clutch decided it didn't like to work anymore.
The shop called him and are replacing the clutch, flywheel, and power steering pump...to the tune of $12k.
I have to say that, the the price of Porsche parts are laughable. INSANELY OVER PRICED.
The gt3 is a drivers car for sure, however it will through you sideways in a snap of a finger.
ppl know these catch on fire right? am I talking to a wall here or was that a different model that got recalled? this thread is a really small sample size but it seems like the exact opposite tone that would accompany a thread about the tesla fires
It was teh GT3 and Porsche is replacing every single engine in every single GT3 for free after they confirmed it was a connecting rod issue
Tesla doesn't know why their cars are catching on fire and hasn't addressed hte issue. Could be the charger, could be motor related..

theyre paying owner 2k a month supposedly
and the much smaller problem of tesla fires was solved like 2 months ago
hey-dude-its-metheyre paying owner 2k a month supposedlyand the much smaller problem of tesla fires was solved like 2 months ago
Interesting didn't know there was a payment I thought the process was relatively painless for the owner. and yeah the tesla fires were on a much smaller scale but garnered much more bad press because a lot of people are still against electric cars
hey-dude-its-mesolved like 2 months ago
oops, less than one month ago
I guess the gt3 owners are still pretty pissed despite the payments, pretty good problem to have
Speedin thats wierd, maybe it was cause it got driven so hard (track days etc). All ive heard about porsches is how much they are built like tanks. And the milage they get is crazy too. If i remember on top gear james may was saying the carrera s got something stupid like 36 or 39 mpg

not disagreeing with op, I love porsche and the advancements they've made in the industry but thought this should get shared. I'm on mobile so no embed...
The fastest I have gone in a car was in a C2S on the 520 bridge. I wasn't driving, but even riding in that car you can feel how well it's balanced. There is just something special about Porsches, they are so different from everything else.

Calling the F40 a piece of shit almost invalidates everything you have to say completely.
Also, the reason you think porsche's are so reliable is because your dad owned a air-cooled model. It hasn't really been the case since they switched to water cooled and I urge you to look at any recent ownership reviews over an extended period of time. Not to mention their recent exploding cars...

Are you being serious? The fires were caused by debris in road puncturing and damaging the batter which lead to the fires. It happened in like 3 cars and to combat the possibly they installed basically a few inch thick shields that are almost in-breakable
What a fantastic video, the only thing that made me sad was the stupid flappy paddles instead of a real manual. If they really wanted the car to be an emotional experience they woulda stuck with a real transmission but dayum did that video make me want a Porsche.
I fancy an older 911 though.

The build quality of an f40 compared to a 959 is terrible

For what it's worth, Audi's recent dominance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (Porsche holds the most victories here) with their R15 and R18 TDI's has forced Porsche to re-enter the premier LMP1 class in hopes of keeping their own legacy alive at the race . Audi and their diesels and hybrid diesels have been absolutely crushing it at the 24, so writing off diesel as an option for high performance sports cars of any kind, is kind of lame.
Took a few to even see what Porsche's LMP1 offering was:
Not a diesel, (there was speculation that it may have been as Porsche falls under the VW umbrella as Audi does as well) it is a hybrid though. Looks promising, has some new tech to charge it's batteries to, which might be very worth it in the long haul.
Haha. This thread made me remember this old relic. Too bad the boxster sucks.
I watch top gear so I am qualified to speak about this
Porsches are fun to look at, and I enjoy them. But since I have no chance of ever owning one I give no fucks
thedarkwolfHaha. This thread made me remember this old relic. Too bad the boxster sucks.
If you actually want a Porsche you don't buy a Boxster, I swear the 90's and early 2000's one's have the same rubbermaid interior as a Subaru.
Build quality though, it's a toss up. I worked at a Porsche dealer all through high school and not a lot of stuff broke, but when it did, shit hit the fan. When you actually drove it though, whether it be a 911 turbo, gt3, cayman, etc... Everything was tighter than Taylor Swift's vag.
If I ever make the money to buy one, I will in a heartbeat, but I will still cry when I get the bill for the repair.

that is possibly the worst metaphor i have ever heard.
didnt you post your new aston in the post a picture of your whip thread?
clearly they cant be the best if you, the op, is buying AMs over porsches

porsche used to run an ad series way back that was something like: "porsche: if you can't afford two, you probably can't afford one"

For a motorsports guy/gal there is no better than porsche.... you can buy a "turn key" race car from the factory. They make 250 cup cars a year for motorsports which is LOADS more than any other car makers.
As far as everyday life, there are far better cars.. but in the world of car buffs, it is very hard to dislike Porsche for what they bring to the motorsports culture and world. You go to any race event at any semi-pro or pro level sports car racing and you will see load and loads of cup cars that are owned by private owners.
