As was said above I use Illustrator for making logos or completely new designs, not editing photos. The best way to incorporate Google images is to search for vector files or create a vector by first dragging the image onto the canvas and then going to object > image trace > make and expand. This allows you to grab each individual part of the image and manipulate. Note: Some images will not be able to be traced, or rather will lose all the quality, while some will trace perfectly. Tip: look for black and white images with very defined lines. All in all Illustrator is a very powerful program and needed for screen printing, etc.
