Advise me on my summer set up...(Read this shit Andy Parry)

This will also be posted in the Build-A-Jib 101 Cult, I just figured I would get more a response from the Ski Gabber.
Obviously it's not done yet, I'll also be posting more pictures as the building continues and of the finished product.

Here's my basic questions:

1. Clearly this is just the drop in/off section of the jib itself, so I'm wondering what the length pipe sections I should be using for the rails themselves. I want to be able to make a ton of different varieties of setups, like DFD, DF, FDF, FD, ect.
2. What diameter and thickness of pipe I need.
3. Any general advice or comments you could give me.

If anyone has any questions or comments about this, just PM me.
I'm more than willing to give you the dimensions or even mail you my plans if you really want them.

okay, this is no my doing.
its my dads thing.
the cats are bengals, and they are 25% asian leopard. (thats right asian_allen, these cats are asian too!)
basically, they are expensive all as fuck. therefore during the day so they can get exercise and whatnot, we keep them out in the cage. at night and in the winter months we keep them inside.
pictures of them will also be available on request. haha

they were at first, and still are towards people they arent used to.
but now they're not bad.
i have on multiple occasions locked drunk friends in there, it makes for some pretty funny times for observers.

and no, unfortunately they're not related to a bengal tiger, even though the name seems to employ that.

haha i love it how everybody loves your cats so you take pictures of them for everybody. this thread is going in the wrong direction....but to steer it in the right direction...

Demensions: the drop off is 4ft onto the rails (for the dfd,df,fd,fdf...etc.), everything is about 3ft 9inches wide and top section is 7 ft high.  so there is a 3 ft drop for gaining speed before we drop off onto the rails.  I personally have made rails before and 3 feet doesn't seem like enough drop?  But we also won't need a ton of speed considering it is just to pop off on to down rails and so on.
Comments/thoughts for Spence and me?

umm maybe a bit high... in my mind summer setups should be super forgiving if you fall so you can try crazy shit without too much consequence... although you could like stick up a school gymnasium and steal some of those crashpads.

what kind of rail are you planning on putting in... because for that i would def go like handrail style from the left.

The reason behind the four foot drop is for the down rail option.
We want to be able to make things like FDF's and DFD's, so the big drop is basically necessary.

It will probably be used for:
1. A 18 ft. flat rail.
2. A bitchin S-rail that's currently in the works.

That original drop in is now covered in turf and has been used several times by the way. So it's not exactly like the picture anymore.

Yeah we have quite a bit of room.
Probably around 25 feet extending past the drop.

that's what i'm worried about. but the thing is that we are gonna be using down rails to start it off, off of the 4 foot drop.  also we can put the original 7ft box part up and make the triangle part higher too. so really if it's too slow we can change the drop in part easy.  the real question is more towards if the 4foot drop will be a good size for dfd rails and so forth...

dont put all your money, time and effort into the first one. just build it, figure out why it sucks and improve on it. think of your first one as a prototype. do you have a lot of space? how long will your rails be in total?

That doesn't look like you'd get enough speed, but I've never skied on astroturf so I'm just going off videos and whatnot.  maybe take a foot or two off your jump platform thing?

ya we have like 30 feet of space atleast.  plus if not enough we could take it to another house.  we are gonna make different rails (down and flat) and we are going to make them all the same size, then thinking of making supports so we can change it up and change up the length, height, and type of setup (dfd, fdfd, ddf, etc.

UPDATE:

The ramp section of the build was completed about an hour ago and everything works great! We will be making a few adjustments to the height the drop in and slanted section, but other than that everything seems to be golden. (Changes to the plans I posted on here will be noted.)
Me and SHampson both took turns riding off of it worked just splendid, speed was a little bit of an issue but with adding snow or water/soap everything should be just about perfect.

And I'm sure your all dying to know how much this venture has cost us up to this point, so I'll break it down for you:

1. $11.47 on two boxes of screws.
+
2. $32.86 on 19 2x4's (we still have a little left)
=
$44.33
And honestly, if we would have been more patient and waited to get more free wood, the price could be well under $25.
Plus you need to figure out the upcoming cost of pipe, but I'm thinking that the total cost should be under $100 easily if we spend our money wisely.

is it possible to slide the flat part out from the ramp just a little bit? it seems like the transition is going to be too hard for the skis, unless you go straight off the end onto a box urban get on. If you leave it the same I am going to suggest you make the lip quite small because your skis wont flex that well and you may lose lots of speed. I dont really know too much though.
