HELP ME OUT

Hey guys, so I have this school project for exercise science where we pick a sport and have to relate it to each unit we studied and I obviously chose freestyle skiing.

It's for our grade 12 ISU and it has to be minimum 250 pages. Holy flippin cow, like why torture us. anyway, If you guys have any info about how freestyle skiing relates to the body, can you please comment a link, bibliographies,pictures, essays, extra info, or anything that'll help fill out 250 pages.

If you're actually up for this (which I don't blame you if you aren't)... some of the units we learned were:
-Anatomy and physiology
-human performance
-evolution of sport
-social issues in sport

PLEASE HELP A FELLOW NON MOTIVATED STUDENT OUT.

First why would choose it.

And second, you chose a class called exercise science but don't want to write about the science of exercise?

Also go over double spaced slightly, use a fraction over 12 front. If you're really desperate try to push larger words over to the next line, make your periods and spaces larger.

That would be a game changer. I still can't imagine a 250 page paper on a dumb topic in class in HS.

I would just not do it if I knew I'd still pass, drop the class, or never have taken it. I've got better things to do.

Well first we will start with Anatomy:
Examples: all of the thotties that hoodcrew has slain, Tanner halls broken ankles, Tatum Monod

Human Performance:
As seen in Steve Stepp's documentary skiing is all about selling weed to your friends so skiers do all the drugs they can get their hands on and do not care if they destroy their bodies while skiing
Examples: hoodcrew, molesquad, 4bi9, Stept, Line Traveling Circus, flabongos

Evolution of Sport:
Ski Ballet, Glen Pake, Shane Mcconkey, Candide Thovex, Tanner Hall, 2007-2009 era, Phil Casabon, Henrik Harlaut, hoodcrew, molesquad, definitely a lot of holes here but you should be able to fill those in with actually researching for your own paper

Social Issues in Sport:
Early Snowboarder vs Skier conflicts, Girls being far behind in the sport for years, Forcing kids to be trained from a young age

I still don't believe it, when I was in hs the longest paper we wrote was like a 8-10 page double spaced research paper. Hell even in college you don't write papers that long unless you're doing your final thesis for your doctorate.

I really don't believe this but at the same time I have no fucking idea what would compel somebody to lie about it on a skiing website

Yeah it's not all writing. We can put what ever we want in it like diagrams, graphs, charts, and whole website pages. He said we can do a lot of copy and pasting. I just have to find the right stuff for that.

Human performance and/or evolution of the sport you could talk about the limits of progression. Over the past few years there's been a lot of discussion about how big is too big, should we really be sending these guys over 100ft+ gaps, at what point does the risk/reward become too gnarly. How realistic is it to continue to push the boundaries? Is it going to take a disaster for us to take a step back? This could touch on anatomy and physiology by analyzing what the human body can really take. There's data out there showing the G forces skiers experience on impact and how much force it takes to huck rotations.

On progression you could talk about where the tricks are going, how judging those tricks will change, and whether or not the change is good. Is it going to turn into aerials with people throwing ridiculous spins, or will a super steezy dub 10 with a creative grab be scored higher. Could bang out a few pages comparing winning tricks from the past few years, which tricks scored highest, which tricks generated the most hype. Remember simon dumonts font flip superman front flip? Wasn't a new trick, people had been doing double fronts, but it was just so sick that we all had to agree, that was fuckin sick.

Social issues you could talk about gus kenworthy (not saying it's an issue that he's gay), but it's always a big deal when someone in action sports comes out because you just don't see that very often. Could talk about how that could open the door for others in the same situation to break the mould and be themselves.


I applaud you for taking on 250 goddamn pages, that is just ridiculous. I want to shit on the doorstep of whoever came up with that.

Here is maybe one page you could do:


The camber of a ski involves the convex curvature built into the side of a ski. It often allows the skiers weight to be distributed to the tip and tail of the ski giving more grip on the snow. This is similar to how our feet are shaped with the arch.
There are many types of camber here is a diagram:






A traditional camber could be compared to a regular arch in a foot whereas the full rocker would be someone with a flat foot. For skiing the camber often effects they type of skiing that can be done with the ski. The more rocker the better for powder usually.

Dimensions of a ski are often given with length (similar to height with people) and then tip, middle, and tail widths. These could be the waist circumference on a person.

The insides of skis are often made with a core and some epoxy and often added fiber like fiberglass or carbon fiber. It adds torsional rigidity. This is similar to how bones can help us humans stand and do things.

Calling bullshit as well. I've heard of 100+ papers for a thesis in college and even longer as eheath said, but there's just not enough content to go 250 pages. You or any one else in your grade won't know enough to even write 50 pages.

Last year for a comp sci assigment I had data with graphs and stuff and it ended up being around 200 pages with only like 10-15 pages of writing

First of all I think it's stupid too. But I wouldn't go in here and make a post about having a 250 page Isu for the fun of it. It isn't all paragraphs and typing, it a collection of everything. A lot of it can be diagrams, articles, etc. I'm not making this up. Call me a liar but I'm just looking for help.

how many people are in your class? I just couldnt see a teacher reading multiple 250 page essays before jumping off a bridge. I would recommend just looking for things to copy from websites like freeskier and SBCskier. Good luck tho

Find a transcribed version of Jason Levinthal's TED talk or any presentation he did, copy it, and paste it. History of Skiing and what not for back story is good. Also I'm pretty sure no one will read your paper, Just put random things in it.

Apparently he reads half of it and skims the rest for everybody. I think there's 20 people in our class which is a TON of paper. 4 or 5 girls actually had about 500-600 pages (which is totally not worth the work).

Like actually tho, why not make it have to be an online document with sources embedded I mean they are highschoolers its not like they don't know how to use a computer, and that would actually prepare them for college where almost everything is online.

He's not the only person who's had to write long papers in HS. Some teachers just like to torture their students more than others though. And he shouldn't do the font thing. I know teachers who would simply fail a student for not following directions by doing stuff like that. Replace all the spaces behind periods with two spaces. It ads up quickly.
